    Motor Oil wive's tale??

That used to be the case when Fast Freddy was a boy. Any more however, as long as you use a quality motor oil that has the current API rating on the bottle, it does not really matter if you change brands. The trick is to change it regularly so that the oil is always clean in your engine. Some...

    Sandblasting the body questions.

Be very careful with sand blasting. It wil warp sheet metal very easily. Your better bet is to ask him to soda blast the body. You will actually get a better job with minimal to no distortion.

    Hot/Cold Method Really Works!

In my grandfather's garage, we have been replacing sleeves like that for longer than I have been born. There is an old soft drink cooler from the fifties that we place the sleeves into to chill them. You can just take them out of the box and drop them in the block.

    Nickle Replating

If you start this process at home, be prepared to have someone from the EPA stop by for a visit. You are dealing with some very toxic and dangerous chemicals. You cannot just pour this stuff down the drain or out the back door. Handling and disposal of these chemicals requires extensive paper...

What you are all forgetting is that, while it is questionable, it is his car and he can put whatever interior in it HE likes. It is not for you to judge. He spent the money the way he wanted. If he wants to make the interior like that it is his choice. How many of you had leisure suits in the...

How tight should a rebuilt engine be?

If the rods and wrist pins have the correct clearance. you will not be able to rock the crank. If an engine is set up correctly, you shold be able to turn the engine with the crank. If it is too tight to turn by hand, something is out of the recommended clearance.

Deep Scratch Repair for the Unversed

You are going to have to paint this section. There is no way to fill in the scratch and make it disappear. You cannot use colored wax or anything that fills the scratch and get a satisfactory repair. As a rule, if you can run your thumbnail over the scratch and feel it, then it is too deep to...

    Head gasket sealer

My Dad is 82 years old and the only thing he will use when he puts a head gasket on a model a is wheel bearing grease. Like you did, he spreads a film of grease on both sides and installs it. I asked him why not use something else and he said, "it has worked for 70 years, why change?" He started...

    Fan belt

Either belt will work fine. Like Glenn C. said, the notched belt is the more modern style. The notches also allow for belt cooling to make them last longer. I prefer the solid belts simply because they look better in my opinion.
