    Fuel Pump Location

So I have done it a couple ways, but I should mention that near the exhaust is not the preferred placement. The horizontal placement just below the tank is good, and add in a heatshield to keep temps down. I also have a rear tank in a coupe and that pump is mounted in the frame rail, again...

    OT: Hydrogen engines in production

Liquid hydrogen technology has been around for decades The SR71 development included this at Burbank airport in the late '50s

    5 bearing cam worth anything?

nothing a little welding can't fix. the lobes are not the problem, they are routinely ground and undercut the shank of the cam. more than likely, Jim is looking at the center bearing diameter. Over the years many have tried hard chroming to build up and regrind with some success. Dennis Piranio...

    5 bearing cam worth anything?

Production of 5 bearing cams in the beginning had 2-4 fully finished bearing dimensions Later production of these the 2-4 was undercut to reduce grinding finish If this is full diameter it may be worth more J

Help needed with Morton abd Brett head.

There could be a buildup on the pushrods preventing them coming out Gemsa Morales had these issues with the tubes running thru the ports J

Help needed with Morton abd Brett head.

Some early OHV conversions were intended to use the stock tappets That said the pushrods could have a larger foot to ride on the top of the tappet and also be the lash adjuster Pictures can help tons J

Does flywheel need to be balanced

Ford chose to believe not in the engineering when the Model A engine was developed Harold Hicks alerted Ford that the crank was not rigid enough to prevent pounding on the center main He was ignored and the Model B came about in 1932 production John PS balancing to "zero" is not necessary...

    aluminum timing gear recommendation

Materials, sure to be different, but Dan is a craftsman and that is reflected in finish and more importantly tolerances maintained. I have stacks of metal gears, some are just better than others. John

Uh oh, found coolant in the rear intake

Do you know the history of this engine? What are the chances it has seats installed for the valves? Could it be a head gasket, sure, but it could be a lot of other things. If you haven't removed the head yet, I would pressurize the water system lightly and check in the port. (20-30 psi max)...

    cam

Jim, Glad to see you still paying attention. I need another Cam and not looking forward to buying more 8620 stock. Best to You and Kathy, John

    cam

No We want larger bearings to allow for more lobe lift without sacrificing torsional rigidity J

    cam

Its mine, just have it welded up to 1.75 dia bearings and grind John

    Conversion to insert bearings?

FWIW, The oiling system should really be upgraded for the inserts. Positive oil pressure minimum to mains and even better drill the crank to oil the rods. IMO, every insert bearing failure I have witnessed has been attributed to the above statement. J

    Timing centrifugal advance

Richard, The Burtz Engine makes little to no difference, it is just an air pump. The ports as I understand have been improved some but not sure about flow and cylinder filling in the shadows (areas that no flow occurs or fuel reaches). Again, this is dependent on the chamber shape. The Snyders...
