Well guys, got my alternator back from the electrical shop the other day; it turns out that the rectifier was wired incorrectly (will have to alert our local Advance Auto of the problem). The electrical shop also installed a new Delco voltage regulator. I re-installed the alternator and tested...
Just a status update on my alternator problems (and coil overheating problem). I took the alternator to a highly recommended electrical shop to have them have a look at it. Hopefully I will hear from them shortly. In the meantime I have installed a ground wire from my battery ground location...
Thanks guys, I have the engine grounded from the battery ground position on the frame to the ******, and also from the flywheel casing to frame. Will check to see if I can ground the alternator separately as suggested.
I really don't think I'm been getting bad alternators from Advanced Auto...
Hello All,
I have a 1931 Model A Coupe that I converter to 12 volts twelve years ago. Until recently I have had no problems with the electrical. However the car has started to burn through coils. An epoxy filled Pertronix 3 ohm coil will now only last about 500 miles. The coil gets hot to...
Very interested on how your Rodtiques LEDs work on the road. Please let everyone know when you get them. Keeping my fingers crossed. 😁 I'm only interested in the ones w/o turn signals since I already have signals.

On occasion I find myself driving my '31 Model A Coupe at night; I always feel less than comfortable with my stock lighting (especially since we have a lot of deer where I live). I tried the halogen bulbs, but found that while they are bright you can't get a decent focus. I'm now considering...
I am also having a problem pulling the rear hub on a 1931 Model A using a half shell puller. One of the problems is that the hub spins when I try to tighten the tool despite having the car in gear. How can I prevent it from spinning since the e-brake is supposed to be off when removing? (I...
I am also having a problem pull the rear hub. My question is: how do you keep the rear hub from spinning around when you tighten the hub puller? I put the ****** in gear, but the hub still spins. (As a side note, yesterday I installed a new transmission tower section; perhaps I don't have it...
It's an aluminum 2 blade fan. I checked the fan for cracks when I had it off and found none. I'm thinking that maybe I tighten it too much. Guess I will take the fan belt off and see if the noise goes away. Problem being is that the noise is not consistent.
I have an intermediate (occurs off an on every 15 seconds or so) rattling noise that I think may be from my fan belt not being exactly aligned with the engine fan pulley (it is about a 1/2" further away from the radiator at the fan pulley compared to the alternator pulley).
A couple months...
