Hello group, I'm looking for a 51 Fordomatic torque converter hub to drive the front pump. Although, I would take the entire torque converter should anyone know of one available. Any leads would be appreciated. Jim

I recently installed a rebuilt Fordomatic in my 51 Victoria. My porobem is it will not shift into 3rd. gear until about 50 MPH. Any ideas what is the cause and how to fix it? What are the normal shift MPH ranges? Jim

Does anyone have or know where I can locate the hub piece on a 51 Fordomatic torque converter? This would be the driver for the front pump. It seems that the 51 had a longer reach than later models. Mine had one of the ears found broken off when disassembled. Thanks...

Thank you, I see that, the problem is that the slide mechanism the handle end fits into is spring loaded. It appears that this slide piece must be pushed down and held there before it will line up. Does the steering wheel and turn signal mechanism need to be removed to access to push the slide...

Can anyone provide information as how to reinstall the auto transmission shift handle on the steering column? I can't get the handle to line up and completely insert to allow for the spring loaded pin to line up.

I seem to have misplaced the trim piece located on the center of the hood from front to back during the restoration on a 51 Victoria. Does anyone know where I locate a replacement? I think that it is a universal part on all Ford cars that year. Thanks

As a follow up on the issue, I found that the difference of the converters was that the 51 converter hub was 1/2" + - longer than the 52 due to the front pump drive gear cogs were located near the rear of the gear. The 52 gear was at the front. The pumps were otherwise the same. I used the 52...

Thanks, I will try to compare the pumps and hubs and note any differences. I have a 52 transmission but the tail shaft is about 5" longer than the 51.

I agree sounds like a linkage adjustment required. Does anyone have any tips as to how to remove the clutch piston in the rear clutch assembly on a 51 model fordomatic. I tried air pressure on the main shaft as in the repair manual but no success.
