That is a tillotson x which is a replacement for the factory zenith. They were used a lot in the war trimes into the 50's. Probably some in the 30's as well. Some like them so don't, it is a matter of opinion. Jack

I hope someone can chime in and answer this question. I was told (not by an authority ) that in NY State you cannot paint or restore a plate and have it useful as a YOM for your car. It must be as authentic as possible. Anyone know? Jack

A really nice truck. The advice given is very good, I would add to change out the carb, the Tilly is not the best for this motor etc. Also look into engine pans and by all means check out the fan blade. The original steel blade is dangerous at best. The new Aluminum are cast and excellent...

I would also like to ask Herm why brass shims, I have steel shims, isn't that OK to use. Also someone mentioned doing this in the car. Is that possible? Jack
