    Awwe Crap!

That exact thing happened to me on my forty as I started a left turn from a light. It turned out to be a broken axle on the drivers side right next to the spline on the wheel side. After inspecting many people said it had to be cracked for a long time. I've never even tried to lay rubber with...

    Thank you Mac Van Pelt

Mac's the man. A couple of years ago i had to have the ****** rebuilt in my forty. The mechanic in Stuart, Fl told me he had a hard time finding some of the parts he needed to do the job right. I told him to call Mac. He got everything he needed and quickly, all quality parts and we were both...

    1939 85 HP Help Please

I think you did good modernizing your flathead. In 2004, 21,000 + miles ago I put a Mallory electronic Distributor. Since then I installed a high pressure oil pump and a remote oil filter. I also went with a 3/4 Isky cam, 1/8 bore, Red's headers, dual 97's, Vintage A/C, Offy aluminum heads...

    tri-carb power valve

I'm no expert but I think I would use a 97 in the middle instead of a 94 and stay with the stock power valve. With three carbs your vacuum is going to die quick and the 94 has a vacuum activated power valve. The 97 has a full throttle mechanically activated power valve. I run two 97's on my 40...

    '37 horn (12v)

I have the original horns on my '40 and it is converted to 12v. It's been running for 12 years and 21k now and the horn still works great. I've never blown it for long periods of time but it's never acted like it was going to quit. It is very loud. I think you can wire yours' in just as I did to...

    "40 tudor sedan footrest dimensions?

My footrests are about 21"wide at the top, 19.5" at the bottom and about 8" tall. They are folded down a couple of inches on the door side. I think you would have to physically see them to make a pair. Very nice frame detailing. I didn't put lubricant between the spring leaves, I used...

On the road again with mitchell overdrive!

Looks like a great job. If you can see these pictures they are a GearVendors unit installed in '04 now has 20k trouble free miles. I did have to widen the tunnel about an inch to accommodate the unit. Works great. With 3:78 rear it tachs 2700 rpm @ 70mph. Good luck

    39 deluxe - 40 deluxe

My vote is for the '40 deluxe. Like a lot of car guys I was building model cars way before I was even close to driving. I built every kind that AMT had on the shelves but my favorite has always been the '40 Tudor Deluxe. I wanted one since I was twelve yrs old. They are beautiful from any angle...

    40 Transmission Problems:

I had similar problems with my '40 after a rebuild. I had trouble shifting for 19,000 miles thinking these old trannys were just 'hard to shift'. It finally started making big noise and I removed it and took it to 'AA Quality Transmissions' on Tressler Avenue in Stuart, Fl. They found many...
