I have a 53 f100 with the flathead and the fordomatic. The current carb is a ford EAB 94. I bought a replacement carb but that one does not have the dashpot on the front left of the carb. Is the dashpot necessary for my setup?

Hello Men, It is time to hook up an oil pressure and water temperature gauge in my 53 f100. It has the 8rt flathead. I have never hooked up gauges like this. Can someone direct me on how to do this. My stock gauges seem to work fine but I have no idea on their accuracy.
