    Front Brakes

Thanks for all the tips and information. I'm well on my way now to having a solid brake setup.

    Front Brakes

I'm getting into the front brakes of the car as I knew there were some issues, but I'm not familiar with what I'm seeing. I've attached a few pictures for reference. To my untrained eye it looks like there is some significantly uneven wear on the shoes on both sides, and glazed areas. They...

    Charging Issue

Thank you. This evening I'm going to watch your video with my cutout in hand and see if it's something I can fix myself.

    Charging Issue

You sir nailed it. I had the car running and not charging with rpm. I put a jumper across the cutout and it charged 8-10A with rpm. Sounds like there is a diode cutout in my future. Thanks everyone for your knowledge and advice.

How do you use your Model A?

I drive my 28 roadster as much as I can. Our daughter is 12 and loves it, so we always try to run errands in it. Two nights ago my wife, daughter, and myself took it to the garden store. Loaded up the rumble seat with two big bags of soil, some tomato cages, and some other random gardening...

    Charging Issue

I greatly appreciate the additional comments and tips. I’m going to spend some more time this weekend and run through the tips. I’ll keep you posted!

    Charging Issue

I pulled the generator and took off the back cover. To me the brushes look in good shape with lots left on them. I confirmed the springs seem to be working to ensure brush contact on the commutator. The commutator itself looked a little dirty so I cleaned it and gave it a soft rub with 800 grit...

    Charging Issue

Gents, thank you very much for the comments and advice. I’m going to spend some time reviewing the generator and see what I find. I’ll report back.

    Charging Issue

I’m having issues with my powerhouse generator or cutout I believe. When driving my A down the road, the ammeter has been showing 0 charging and then every so often it’ll jump up and show charging about 8-10 amps or so. Seems to be no rhyme or reason when it will charge and when it won’t. I know...

    Gas Gauge Rebuild

I really appreciate all the knowledge and advice, thank you. Last resort I went with the heat and finally was able to crack the inner nut free. Cleaned everything up, new cork gaskets, its back in the car. Going to put some gas in this weekend and confirm the leak is fixed. Then see if I can get...

    Gas Gauge Rebuild

I found that gas seemed to be seeping abit around the gas gauge glass and I’m concerned due to the electrical directly below it. I’d like to replace the gaskets on either side of the glass. I’ve tried removing the star nut inside the housing but it is stuck tight. I’ve soaked it for a couple...

Earned Patina - How Did Your Model A Get It ?

My A got its patina from years of hard use in the Chilcotin Range of BC. It was bought by the ranch owner of Teepee Heart Ranch and ran around on the dirt roads and fields. At some point it was sold to Alexis Creek Ranch where it was eventually disassembled to be used in various iterations until...

17" Tires - What are you running

Gents, I'm thinking that part of my long-ish term plan for my 28 Roadster is to swap out the 21" wheels and tires for a set of 17". Those of you running 17" wheels, what are you running for tires?

    17" Ford Wire Wheels

Looking for a set of 17" wire wheels for my 28 Roadster. I personally think the 16" wheels are a hair too small for me visually and prefer 17". I'm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

I just bought a couple of them yesterday from the parts store. The part number on the Wix box is 3039.
