    Model A Ford GAZ carburetor

What might an unrestored original Russian GAZ Model A carburetor be worth on the market today. Hummm, been in a collection for a long time now. All estimates/opinions welcomed, just wondering! Jim G.

Looking for opinions - compression low on 2 & 3

Hey Bob - What would I listen for, valve leak, or ? Then what else. sounds like a lot of work to check for bad valve. Isn't there some other way. How about leak down. Wet the cyl w'oil to check rings, wouldn't the same process look for leak down from valve also?

Looking for opinions - compression low on 2 & 3

Engine low power still starts and idles good. Compression test show cyl 1 -> 4 as 65, 55, 45, and 60. What are the more likely issues? Head gasket between 2 & 3? Valves? Or???? Where do I go next? All, all, opinions are so welcome. Jim.

low & no spark on #3 cyl

Re: low & no spark on #3 cyl - update! New upper dist body and rotor. Not idles really good now but hesitates to take throttle, running kinda rough coming up in RPM to fast idle +. Hummm, is it time to address fuel demand problem? All inputs surely welcomed. Jim G.

low & no spark on #3 cyl

Engine runs rough. While at fast idle I ground tested each cyl and #3 spark was intermittent/absent. All others had stead/regular spark to ground .I replaced the spark plugs with new W16, then the re-timed the engine with test lamp, then replaced the coil, still no improvement. I've ordered...

    Ownership History

Purchased my 1931 Tudor in May 1994. Went to MVA for title search and they produced 12, all the way back to March 1931 in SW Baltimore, MD. This A has never been titled outside the state of MD. Since 5/94 she has been "driven" just over 55K miles to 13 states. The odom now shows just over...

    convert to LED headlights

I do a bit of night time driving when on solo touring. For safety I want to convert my original incondecent to LED "bulbs". The word is they are a significant improvement thus safer on the road. What all is involved for this change. I do not want to make modifications to any original...

    Points & condenser

My "rub" with some modern points is they have a "soft" rubbing block that wears away on the cam. It looks like maybe Teflon that shortens the life as the dwell continues to change. I test the block by probing with a pin, xacto knife or some other sharp item. The true harder block will not...

    Carburator Update

All good advise. The only thing I'd add is if you do use a wrench on the brass fitting that you make sure to use a box wrench of proper fit/size, the brass is indeed soft.
