What the heck is this trim plate (1938/39)?

Thanks. That was what I suspected. But I couldn't find any images anywhere online. It was covered in brushed-on paint, but it cleaned up nice with some 0000 steel wool.

This was in a dashboard parts lot I purchased. Never seen one, before.

1939 Deluxe grille bar (just one!)

I need a single bar, the actual sheetmetal bar, not stainless trim. I need the SECOND bar from center, toward the driver's side. Hopefully someone has a bashed-up parts grille that can sacrifice this piece. Thanks.

    1939 DeLuxe original bumper

Back to the top. Anyone want to throw me $150 for it? My kid needs a new bike for Christmas!

    1939 DeLuxe original bumper

I paid $200 a couple years ago, for this original bumper off the front of a '39 Sedan Delivery. I may have paid too much....Either way, let me know. It has some pitting, and will need rechroming for a show car. It is extremely straight, though. I have a decent pair of repops on my car, now...

    39 Deluxe worth saving?

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=428737 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=502534 That car is more than yard art. People have started with worse...

    39 Deluxe worth saving?

:eek:I would freak out if I found an old '40 coupe with a Merc block just sitting out in the woods!!! Please take a moment to reflect on how cool this is, alone! That car is definitely saveable, as a complete car, to the right person. There are a lot of valuable parts, so pull lightly with...

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks, Alan. That's good food for thought. I'm no speed demon. Just want the car to be safe and fun to drive. I will hunt down some '35-'41 axle assemblies. I was hoping to do some other stuff to the car this holiday weekend. Oh, well, a rebuilt banjo will offer a lot of peace of mind...

    1940 Rear Tube Shocks:

Thanks TJ. I am pulling the whole rearend back out this holiday weekend. I plan on adding some leaves, so I will definitely add the longer ones back. I need to tear down the banjo (stripped driver's axle thread, arrrrgh), possibly throw some freeway gears in, and wire wheel/detail paint...

    1940 Rear Tube Shocks:

I got the kit for a lowered 2-3" rear. The part # for a stock height rear is BD-18000-K. It required some grinding on the rear crossmember, for shock clearance. Also, you need to drill out the rearmost crossmember rivets, and drill two additional holes in the frame, for the sway bar...

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Yea, I AM glad I found this weak spot inside the garage. I drove this car up and down I5 last summer, with the wife and kids. Yikes... I am putting feelers out for a good axle, in the PNW area. Looks like I might have an opportunity to swap out my 3.78's for something more roadworthy, too...

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Aaarrrgh... So, I checked the keyway for cracks, and everything looked good. Put the drum back on, tightened the axle nut with a breaker bar. Then, I got my buddy's newly calibrated, county-issue torque wrench. Set it for 200 lbs. and got about a quarter turn before the threads ceased to...

    1940 Rear Tube Shocks:

Not the best photo, but I just installed the rear tube shock/sway bar kit from Bob Drake in my '39 Tudor. $200 and it was a bolt-in deal. It works awesome. The car rides nice and corners so much better. The only gripe I had with the kit was the nuts and bolts supplied were garbage. I threw...

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks, I did not look there. Now I'm feeling a little paranoid. I might as well pop that drum off, again, and look exactly where you described. Thanks again, everybody!

Loose rear axle key '39 rearend

Thanks for all the help, guys. I am going to fab up some safety clips for the drums. I made sure the keyway was really clean, and it didn't seem like there was too much side to side play. Axle did not look cracked. I will re-torque since it was driven pretty hard. I was testing my new rear...
