Upgraded to 12v Elec, Then No Power

Gotcha Jim. Yes changed from positive ground to negative ground. I eyeballed the fuse at the starter and it looks good. Tomorrow night will change it out or bypass it to rule that out as a factor.

Upgraded to 12v Elec, Then No Power

Not a stupid question at all. That's a helpful suggestion I hadn't thought about Ruth. I'm a recent owner of this coupe and I'm not 100% sure about the ins-and-outs of this electrical system. Best I can tell, there is no master fuse. The only fuse on it seems to be the one I installed a...

Upgraded to 12v Elec, Then No Power

Did a pretty basic conversion from 6v to 12v today. New 12v battery, 12v alternator, 12v coil, 12v amp gauge, new 12v bulbs. Got the car to fire up after doing the conversion, all seemed well. Started changing the tail light bulbs, got the running lamps working successfully first, then...

    Battery Disconnect

These are great ideas Badpuppy. Thanks. Will try this for a short term fix and then hook up a disconnect on the ground side of the battery.

    Battery Disconnect

My car is still 6V positive ground. I've been having trouble with the battery going dead while the car is parked for a week or so. Figure turning the battery off while parked will help rectify the situation. Seems to be some debate about which side of the battery to install the disconnect...

    Advice Needed: Starting Troubles

Hey Everyone, I've had this Model A for only a short time. Usually I haven't had too much trouble getting it started, but recently I'm having problems. Ignition on, GAV open, gas level or steering wheel set to 4 o'clock. First time I press the starter switch the starter spins up but then...

    Who's running a Marvel/Schebler carb?

Good info on this carb. I've been trying to decide whether I wanted to trade in my crusty Zenith for a rebuild or go with a downdraft carb setup. These Marvels seem kind of unique and nice compromise between the Zenith and a Stromberg.

    Enjoying my "New" Model A

I'm running 560/15 front and 820/15 rear. Haven't pulled the back wheels since I bought it but I believe there is a spacer on the rears

    Enjoying my "New" Model A

The car was found by Stockley Kustoms in Denton Texas. Before he sold it to me he installed a drop axle up front and a model B spring in the rear. That and the big-and-littles give it a nice stance in my humble opinion!

    Enjoying my "New" Model A

Still running the mechanical brakes. I had juice brakes come close to failing a couple times on my old '35 hot rod and that spooked me a bit. Going to stick with the Model A stock setup as I don't plan to drop a V8 into this coupe. The '30 has dual tailights and I have the kit for turn...

    Enjoying my "New" Model A

Just wanted to provide a quick introduction as I recently acquired a 1930 model A. I was driving a heavily modified 1935 Ford Pickup in California before selling it. Picked up my new project upon moving to Texas. Guess you could say it's a bit of a barn find car so I'm learning as I go and...
