How to install door lock cylinder

so you're saying that you stuck a wire right into where the key goes, and it came out the back right next to the square stock? i'm pretty cavalier when it comes to risk taking (some would say reckless) but i don't think i would have the nerve to do that. or the imagination to even think that...

How to install door lock cylinder

if the door panel is off, or you're planning to remove it for some reason, or have confidence and experience in doing so previously such that you won't ruin anything. it's probably easiest to remove it. for then, it's a simple matter of slipping one hand up and behind the latching mechanism and...

in search of Door Latch Linkage, 81A-732412/3-NA for a '39 Merc, Ford...

it may be that that part was standard fare on many a ford and possibly on other manufacturers cars too. from what i gather, door latching parts were often outsourced in the 30's and 40's by Ford GM and Chrysler. Hancock Manufacturing, Hurd Lock & Manufacturing, Briggs Manufacturing and...

Powermaster gear reduction hi-torque starter install

this is not a contradiction or criticism because we are talking about different model years, but i had different experience recently when installing a new 6v starter with a new style bendix on my '41, as it involved no modifications at all.

    1936 Engine Problem

i recently replaced the solenoid in my car when while fiddling with it, i accidently, in a shower of sparks, welded a screwdriver to one of it's contacts. that made a strong enough impression on me to keep my hands clear of the button underneath. i can tell you that. YOWSA!!! :)

installing turn signals on 1941 using LEDs. anyone?

yep, that's the one, i've just been informed by Amazon via e-mail that i will be receiving it today! and thanks for the tip...but removing the old turn signal system that was not suitable for use with LEDs and installing a new one that is, has taxed my 'inner electrical engineer' knowledge and...

1951 Mercury 12 Volt Conversion Horn Problem

i had a similar problem and was often frustrated that my horn didn't work when driving around town. it seemed that every two seconds some inconsiderate driver warranted a good, "honking at". and then when i did get it fixed, it appeared that it also removed all the rude drivers from the road...

the original pump on my '41 went bad, and it didn't have a glass bowl and i wanted one with a glass bowl. and i ended up buying two different ones before i got one to fit. ford, it appears, modified their pumps a...er...few times over the years. and the reproductions are not all the same as a...
