    Carburetor Problems

Yes, could make not burn fuel and run poor. But too much fuel wont burn with a stock well maintained A ignition either. Could be all metal, I am not really a Model A guy myself. Just giving general mechanical mis-information. No, no, no. Nailhead is not allowed here! FLATHEAD is good here. Funny...

    Carburetor Problems

A bad condensor for the ignition typically wont make the carb leak fuel. Is the Needle in the carb good, clean and supple? They can get hard over time and not seal against the seat properly. You should be able to gently push a fingernail into it and see it deform. Dont push so hard as to damage...

    Crescent Wrench?? (At Jiffy Lube)

The hard part is just getting some cars in and getting the word out. It takes time. We dont have much coming in regularly from overseas, but much from all over the US. Getting cars shipped from Florida, Georgia, Texas etc is not at all out of the ordinary for service work. Most customers just...

    young mechanics

Most customers today wouldnt know the difference between a micrometer and c-clamp anyhow. This whole situation is largely due to the throwaway lifestyle we live in. No longer do we fix anything. When an appliance breaks, we replace it. We can buy another appliance made in Bangledesh for the same...

    Crescent Wrench?? (At Jiffy Lube)

That is a good deal for both you and the customer if you can make it a reality. You get to do what you love and know you are doing a good job on a necessary service and the customer gets someone who knows and appreciates their car. Building a clientel will take a little time. Not much of a pipe...

    Crescent Wrench?? (At Jiffy Lube)

True that kids have much less mechanical ability today than of years past. However, to think that a HS dropout working at Jiffy lube for just over minimum wage is a mechanic is your own mistake. Those places typically do not get people who have a whole lot of mechanical aptitude. Those people...

Recondition nuts / bolts or buy new ones

FlatheadTed=most of roys stuff is very close to what Ford used. I assume you are talking about a truck bed set of carriage bolts?

Recondition nuts / bolts or buy new ones

I feel that if the bolts are in good condition with only the cosmetic coatings in poor shape from road use, there is no reason to replace them. For instance, a car comes in with a leaking waterpump, or needs brake service, needs a tune up, etc... and you remove bolts to do the necessary repair...

Recondition nuts / bolts or buy new ones

We use Roy Nacewicz for most of the hardware needed on full restorations. But for simple repair work on regularly driven cars, we often media blast the nuts/bolts and have found some of the carb paint from Eastowood, or even some silver exhaust paints to have a similar look to original. Not...

    Price 33 34 Ford

I often wonder the fate of these antique cars myself. I work in a retoration shop and currently we are doing just fine. But, what will the long term be for me? Say 10,15,20 years? Will enough people still be interested in haveing cars built/restored? Or will that interest/hobby fade and the...
