I just thought I would re-pop this thread. I think we have determined it is a back plate "saver". I showed it to some of the guys in my club and got the blank look. Does anyone have any idea who may have manufactured or sold this? How about what era? Thanks guys.

Yeah Joe, it had a back plate and a standard wedge. Weird, huh?

I am rebuilding the front brakes on my '30 Coupe. In place of the wedge stud, I found this part. Nobody seems to be able to identify it. Does anybody know the origin of this unusual part. Thanks. Mike

YUP, same here

Similar question here. One of the buttons came off the LeBarron-Bonney seat back. I am looking for a way to fix it without taking the whole seat apart and causing further damage.
