Thankyou Brian, helping me confirm my theory..lol. I know 36-38 was a compilation of parts. Henry didn't wast anything...lol. check out my fb. Look up hotrodjay to see this engine running. I deleted the video from my phone. You can see it on my fb. Putting it back together the way it was, thanks...

Drain pipe ended in early 35. Crankcase ventilation ended the need for a drain back pipe off the main cap. Also due to a better oil pump aswell. The question is does my main cap fit a lower seal or is it a 36 cap where it didn't exist yet? 37 was the 1st year for the lower seal. Maybe I have an...
I know about the drain pipe, ford canceled that in early 35 due ti the crank case ventilation system. Question is does this particular main cap have a lower seal or not? If my engine is a late 36/early 37...maybe there is no seal. Is there a seal for this cap or not? Ready to install the pan but...

I also noticed the bolt just above the crank case vent on your pan is wet with oil. Your pan gasket looks pretty wet with oil aswell. Looks like the leak is coming from "above" at the gasket. Is it possible you have to much oil in it? 4 quarts for non canister filtered flatheads and 5 quarts...
35-48 had this, it's for crank case ventilation. 4 quarts no filter and 5 quarts with oil filter. It's possible you might be missing the tube under the intake manifold or have a hole in it allowing oil to pass through.
