Thanx Updraught for the good info. I'm about to install my Coker Excelsior Stahl Radials and their expensive radial tubes. I didn't give a whole lot of thought to talc. I thought it was just to facilitate installation, but apparently, it is more for the constant movement in a radial.
Re: Maximum tire size on 19” A rims / risks?
I just purchased 550R19 Excelsior Stahl's with tubes. After the powder coating, I guess I'll find out. I don't expect any negative effects.
Did the final touches on putting Bonnie back together after putting in the correct tappets (actual solid '32 tappets) for the B cam I installed a year ago. I had the skinniest base (0.990" aftermarket adjustable) tappets riding on the B's lobes which Henry redesigned for a 1.187" base on a solid...
I know it's come up before. Does anyone have a chart for proper torques on engine bolts? What I really need is the torque for the timing cover bolts. Les Andrews left this one out of his chart on page 1-134. I'm figuring 30 or 40 lbs? these are 9/16 bolts.
Thanx daddyo; That explains it loud and clear. There are subltle differences like this.
Here's a good one... I also put in a '32 B cam, not knowing tht Henry redesigned the tappets to be larger; a whopping 1.187" base to ride on the B cam. I had these little self adjusting tappets with my...
Good call, Bob. I just scratched the holes and it seems to be just a mark. There is undrilled metal under the marks on the A block.
This is a new Snyder head with 2k miles on it, and the block was just rebuilt and has the same 2k miles on it. It wouldn't be rust, but something got in there and...
I'm ready to reinstall my Snyder 6:1 head after a project, and I noticed there are two plugged or blocked holes in the head, small ones between #2 and #3. The very same holes are plugged or blocked in the block itself. Snyder's B gasket has the holes open. What gives? I read where one guy...
Without hurting any feelings of minorities, It is a reference to Gypsies being non citizens in many countries of Europe (origins from Romania) and disdained by xenophobes and ethnic purists and nationalists.
Some were known to cut the purity of salt with gypsum, of lesser value in days of yore...
I'm not sure what that means. Does it mean that the Secretary of State in a particular state (or Federal) came up with a replacement engine number series?
I would like to know more about it for my car's history. Thanks
I have an "S" in front of my number. In fact it is clearly "SOS" followed by numbers.
The engine has also been restamped below, which is on my New Mexico title. I wish I knew what the other stamp means. Maybe you have provided a clue.
