    '56 Country Sedan Overheating

I had the exact same problem with my 292 fairlane when I bought it years ago off the internet (BIG MISTAKE). After changing changing everything that could possibly be involved, and no help, I decided to pull the intake off and see if the head gaskets were wrong or bad. Turns out that previous...

    y-block timing gears

I haven't put the woodruff in the cam slot yet, the gear goes on to about halfway into the slot. That's why I was wondering how far on it goes. The small woodruff key is in the crank and the small gear also goes on about halfway. Thanks!

    y-block timing gears

I am in the process of putting my 1957 292 back together after a refreshing and the timing gears/chain is next. Should the gears slide onto the shafts easily or should there be resistance. Mine slide on easy about half way then stop cold. The cam is new and the crank is original. Also, how far...

Pull the engine and ****** ?

I pulled my 292 with fordomatic attached from my 56 Victoria with no problem at all. By taking the Radiator, front bulkhead and grill made it much easier. Good luck with your project!

    Engine paint... orange?

I recently painted my 292 while it's out of the car for a rebuild. I got a quart of Hi-Temp engine enamel called Thunderbird Red from Dennis Carpenter and he gets it from Bill Hirsch. I think the color is more orange than chevy orange. Weather it would get darker from engine heat, I don't know...

    292 pcv question

Thank you for the replys, dmsfrr and darrell, great idea to use a oem pan but I already have two pans without the hole. I was going to experiment on one and have a backup just in case. I'm sure I can fab it all together, just kinda wanted to know if this setup would work. I have a machinist...

    292 pcv question

I have a one inch carb spacer with a large vac port out the back from a 351 2v ford. I am now running a 2100 motorcraft 2v carb on my 292 without a pvc. I like the carb and am wondering if I can use the spacer and put in a pvc in that flat spot at the rear of the valley pan. I would also build...

    strange piston rings

Thanks for the replys, guys, I am pretty sure the pistons are original except for #4 as they are marked FoMoCo. The #4 also has the extra ring so I think the rings were changed out at some point. I checked and the middle ring is thinner than the top ring and the second middle ring is thinner...
