    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Fourteen: March 10, 13, and 14, 2015 Yes I grouped 3 days into one; reason being I only spent about 2 hours in the garage each of these days instead of being out all day. Couldn't do much work the past few months since the Ospho only works above 32 degrees. It feels good to be working on...

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Haven't updated in a while. Bought rebuilt springs from the same awesome gentleman that I got the rear spring spreader from (thank you again Marv!). Between the holidays and traveling to see family I haven't gotten into the garage. Also my fiance stashed some presents in the garage so I'm...

    Removing head

I just want to make sure I understand your puller. you have 2 spark plugs bolted to the plate to hold onto the head. I'm guessing the other bolts sit on top of the head studs so as you tighten them it pulls the head up?

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Thirteen: November 9, 2014 The Ospho ended up producing a lot of white residue on the frame. Went over the entire frame with a wire wheel and cleaned the frame again. The frame has been primed with a self-etching primer and painted with chassis black paint.

    Removing head

Sorry guys. I'll get some eye bolts if I can figure out the thread size of the spark plug bungs. I only have the nuts off, not the head bolts off...wrong terminology. I haven't touched the model a since Wednesday. Been busy at work and the weather is getting colder. I'm hoping to have the...

    Removing head

I'll have to try some of these. The head removal tools I found were just I bolts for the spark plug holes...any idea what thread size?

    Removing head

Need some help here. What are your methods of removing the head from a Model A? I looked at some youtube videos where they wedge stuff between the timing cover and the water pump but that didn't work for me. The engine doesn't run so I can't use the engine's compression to pop it off. All...

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Eleven: November 3, 2014 Applied Ospho to the frame. Ospho converts iron oxide to iron phosphate (an inert metal, it doesn't react to anything). This helps get rid of the surface rust and prevent future rust from appearing. The black areas on the frame are where the Ospho has done its...

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Nine: October 31, 2014 Removed the rear end and the rear spring. Not much left until the frame is ready for the Ospho treatment. Day Ten: November 1, 2014 Finished removing the fender brackets, running board brackets, front crossmember, and brake crossbar. Sanded the frame and rinsed...

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Seven: October 25, 2014 Removed the wheels and hubs together (since 2 lugnuts on one wheel won't come off and I can't easily access any lugnuts on the other wheel), removed all 4 front wheel bearings, both front brake assemblies, and all the steering components. Got the rear spring spreader...

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Six: October 18, 2014 Removed the truck bed which all will need to be replaced. Just waiting on a spring spreader and the frame will be by itself and restoration can begin.

    HarryK's 1929 Model A Restoration

Day Five: October 17, 2014 Got the front end down to the frame, removed the passenger side splash apron, and removed the emergency brake control bar. Started cleaning and organizing the garage in anticipation of pulling the rear end once I get a spring spreader. Also took more pics of all the...

    radiator question

True but if it's not right you can call ebay if it's within a month. I don't need it for a while so I'll keep looking for a stock or reproduction. I bought a part for an rc helicopter once...they sent me a letter opener. I got my money back.
