I had a 64 galaxy that had a control valve on the steering link at the pitman arm. The steering box looked like a normal box, the control valve had the hoses that connected to a slave cylinder that was connected to the drag link(tie rod). Corvettes had the same setup up until 82.

The Mercury engine I had was marked 99 on the intake deck next to # 1 cylinder. It was also painted dark blue.

It has vacuum ports on the intake between #5&6 and #7&8 intake ports like a 39 merc. What is the serial # on the transmission? That could be a merc motor out of a truck.

I like the idea of the water inlets along the pan rail.
