Bubba would say that Flathead is not a small-block Chevrolet. I think Bubba says 28 degrees at full out is max if my memory is correct. I think that 24 degrees would also work.

I'm trying to find one of these Lucas Distributers. I'm building a 1929 model a with a flat head, Using Lucas electric fuel pump, turn signal switch. and other stuff that I can find. reason being memories of my Dad's MG TC Me sitting in the back of the car on road rallies with Mom and Dad.

I measured the exhaust valve lift with a dial indicator this morning. I have .410 lift at that valve. That's a lot. Checked flathead cam specifications and found the aftermarket cam with .400 Isky Jr Going to try two washers this morning. Wish me luck This is why you should check A camshaft.

The Autolite 216 Plugs are also hitting. I'm going to try 216 with two washers and see if that works. I tried to measure the valve lift. The valve comes real close to the cylinder head. I'm thinking that the cylinder heads were milled a lot. And add to the aggravation I have sold this engine...

Thanks for the replies. What I though was a lead plug. Was The brass needel. I had to drill part of it out. Then the drill bit caught and it came out. Carbureator back on engine and seens to be running find.
