    Fordomatic

KULTULZ, Not sure that question was directed at me but assuming it was...I replaced the distributor with a rebuilt on off Ebay for a later 292 truck, as recommended on this site. It is a single diaphragm, single vacuum hose unit. As far as I can see the intake manifold is probably original, as...

    Fordomatic

My 55 Bird in Drive would start in second as normal then shift into third gear about 15' after starting off. Lugged all the time, and wouldn't kick down. It had an Edelbrock carb on it, with the original distributor. I replaced the distributer with one from a later 292 to solve the...

    1959 Ford Aftermarket Tube Grille

Abe's Glory grills post shows a couple 59's with their grill. Looks pretty good.

    How about a 4 banger T-Bird

That is the plan. He got my Model A two years ago.

    How about a 4 banger T-Bird

I will be giving this car to my son in Texas in a year or so. At my age, I will not be starting any projects. I will be lucky to finish the ones I have now. Just dreaming.

    How about a 4 banger T-Bird

I warned you I have weird tendencies. If I had more time and money it would have a Chevy small block in in like my last one. Unfortunately time has caught up with me. Enter the haters.

    How about a 4 banger T-Bird

Maybe clarification will help. Not interested in winning any races, just thinking how much more pleasurable my Bird would be if it drove like a late model Mustang. My thought is you would have to start with a wrecked donor car, and put everything in the Bird. I like the idea of the four...

    How about a 4 banger T-Bird

I know I am weird, but cannot stop thinking how putting a new Mustang Eco Boost 4 banger in a '55 T-Bird might be a good idea. Before sending out the hit squad, think about it. Over 300 HP, great gas mileage, much lighter weight on the front end, 10 speed automatic with OD. Except for...

    5-speed in a '56 sedan?

Asking this one for my brother. Can a 5-speed stick trans be fitted to a 6 cyl. 1956 Ford sedan without a lot of hassle?? It now has a factory three speed stick, and would be a lot more useable with a 5 speed overdrive. If so, which one? Mustang? Thanks

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question

OK, but it might be a while. I had no idea it was this involved. Lucky for me the brakes work just fine as is. Thanks

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question

Now that you mention spindles, I thought it was unimportant, so didn't mention the spindles were replaced at the same time by 2" dropped spindles...so, I have no idea if they were original style or not. Actually I never knew there was a difference until today reading the other thread on brakes.

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question

OK, I got the car on the lift today and looked it over. //The steering box has a big embossed S on it, which I suspect means Saginaw, and the only numbers I can find on it are 605 in big cast print right on the top of the box. Underneath, the steering box is bolted right to the frame (which is...

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question

I hope to get it on a lift tomorrow, but today I looked under the hood and the steering box is a Saginaw 605.. As I remember that is the box used in Chevy conversions? I am starting to wonder if the front frame clip might have been used from the '86 Merc? Hope to find out tomorrow.

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question

Thanks, I will try to find some numbers, and get someone to help me post pics. I can answer two things, the brakes are T-Bird rotors, and a kit I put on after acquiring the car. They work fine. Also, it looks like the original steering column was used, which to too bad, since the detents are...
