    Babbit Doctor?

For me I like the idea of keeping an almost 100 year old engine running, but I also like the idea of the Burtz engine. I relish the challenges of keeping that old engine running, but I marvel at the improvements in the Burtz engine. I’m very conflicted :)

Who would take on these Model A Restorations?

Brent, First off no one should ever buy a Model A over the internet sight unseen. That’s just asking for trouble as you have so aptly described. Hopefully anyone reading this thread will take note that the best Model A’s to purchase are ones from your local clubs. Your local clubs will know the...

Who would take on these Model A Restorations?

I agree, just because it’s old, many people have a highly inflated value in their heads of what “their treasure” is worth. Spending $10k on a drivable car is money well spent to start a restoration project. In fact I would say you would be saving money.

    heater manifold

I found an appropriate diameter slinky :) what’s interesting is that it gives a bit of a degree in movement for the engine vibrations.

    Disc Wheels on Model A

A possible answer for the original post is to contact Randy Gross at 714-292-8660 or email Randy at melmodela@aol.com. Randy makes the cast iron hubs. I’m sure he could do what you are asking for.

    About to order shocks, suggestions?

Yes they appear to make them in batches. Same note from when I ordered, still received them with in about 6 weeks. You can email them to see if they are about to make a production run.

    About to order shocks, suggestions?

After waiting for years and years for the Stipe shock, I gave up. I heard about Rotoshims from a fellow local club member and decided to purchase. I am very pleased with the performance. Here is a link. Check out their technical pitch. https://rotoshim.com/overview

Unlikable Aspects of The Model "A"

Electric windshield wiper is useless. Vacuum was better, but at full throttle…. Rear View mirrors.

    LED headlight lamps

I hate electrical problems. The last one I chased was for my headlights too. When turning on the low beams my parking lights came on too. Traced down to the connection socket/pins for the conduit connection. Two pins were touching. Check all connections and remember these connections are spring...

    Tire Tariffs

Here’s the rub for me. China manufacturers without various health, safety, employment, and environmental regulations, Chinese manufacturers are polluting the world. Remember the acid rain sprinkling down the forests of the northwest USA? If tariffs contribute to shifting production from china to...

Advice needed: Cab damaged in garage accident

Liberty Mutual is just plain bad. Had insurance with them for over twenty years and a hurricane ripped out our shingles to the point it needed a new roof. They paid for new roof and then dropped us. Same story. They advertise all the time and I just shake my head. No-no.
