Aviation Gas for Long Term Storage?

For long term storage I empty the tank and run the carbs dry and then put in VP racing 50:1 fuel and the appropriate amount of sta-bil fuel stabilizer. The VP is ethanol free and can sit for a year without issue, and the oil in the mix helps keep the internals lubricated. And I believe it is 97...

Wiring 47 Ford Car Heater Motor

In my opinion that would be too much amperage draw, and would risk melting the wires to your ignition switch. A better option would be to run a wire directly from the battery with an inline fuse through a switch to the fan.

    This site can’t be reached

Re: This site can’t be reached I couldn't get on all day long and just now it said checking to make sure you're a human... Lol. I guess I passed because here I am....

    For Sale 1940 Coupe radiator

Hi everyone, I am listing my original 1940 Ford Coupe Deluxe split core radiator. Many years ago it went to the radiator shop to be tested and cleaned up. You can see some areas where the tubes were soldered. The areas that look like rust on the fins that is the actual brass of the fin coming...

    Stuck Valve in 39 Flathead

If I remember correctly from way back in automotive shop in high school, I was told some valve stems were made with stellite? And if we were to hit that valve tip with a hammer the valve may explode. Not sure if that's true or if the instructor was just blowing smoke up our butts. I never...

    Stuck Valve in 39 Flathead

As stated above, marvel mystery oil works amazing. Pour a good amount in the spark plug hole and let it sit. If that doesn't help, it would seem easier to pull the intake manifold that way you don't have to drain the coolant and you can get a good look at the lifters. Good luck

    Starting puzzle

Sounds like a bad ignition switch, or a ballast resistor. Although if it was a bad ballast resistor it would fire up and shut off when you let off the starter button. Leads me to key switch supplying power to starter solenoid but not to the ignition coil.

    '40 Deluxe grille

Isn't it sad that we have come to relying on China for things that were once proudly made in the USA? I have told my kids many times, when I was younger we didn't throw away parts and just replace them, everything was made to be rebuildable. Starters, alternators/generators, wheel cylinders and...

    '40 Deluxe grille

Drake used to make many parts that are still in high demand. I can't understand why they would stop making them if there is a high demand. Things like windshield garnish moldings, trunk latch... There's money to be made..

    1940 Coupe garnish moldings

Hello everyone. I am looking for a set of windshield garnish moldings for my '40 coupe deluxe. I have one original but it is definitely not usable. They don't have to be perfect, as long as they are not rotted. Thank you..

    '40 Deluxe grille

Tubman you hit the nail right on the head. This is a hobby for everyone, not just the high dollar restoration people. I'm not a purist that has to use only genuine Ford parts, and my car isn't a concourse show car. I just want my car to look good and enjoy it. If someone criticizes the way it...

    '40 Deluxe grille

The Vintique and the Speedway grille are pot metal like the originals aren't they? Pot metal was a mix of zinc and other metal? Speedways says pressure die cast zinc just like the original, and chromed. Speedways is $624 and has good reviews. I think that's how I'm leaning.

    '40 Deluxe grille

I agree with you Art Doctor, I am very tight with my wallet as well, and my car is far from a show piece. I was going to try that special welding rod for pot metal...muggy weld I think it was called, but it seems that original pot metal is so brittle it's just going to break again in a different...
