Think Hershey was small this year

That's really sad, hate to hear that. I figure when the Model A's hit their 100th birthday, most will be left to rot...again.

    What year engine

OK, My engine has the heart shaped oil pump base, flat push rod bosses and the three ribs at rear main bearing in the \ l / configuration. This puts the block at 8/23/29 to 3/11/30 or 5/29/30 to 8/6/30. Going from flat to countersunk then back to flat push rod bossescauses dating troubles. I...

    What year engine

Tom and Steve, Thank you both for your replies. Tom, the oil return pipe is all below the center line of the valve cover. Steve, I checked out the engine website, as soon as my shop gets below the boiling point of water I'll start my research. Thanks again guys.

    What year engine

Hi all, I bought a model A engine earlier this year and just recently realized that the serial number has been ground off, it's was done a long time ago judging by the aged appearance of the metal. The guy I bought it from had it only a couple of years so he doesn't know (he said) of the...

    Why the flathead?

Wow, V14, didn't know that was an option, must have been a dream to drive.

    Why the flathead?

Hi, I love the flatheads too, but I have had to scrap several of them because of valve seat issues, one was cracked and another was so worn it could not be machined out, it went too deep into the jacket. I love their simplicity but that is a weak area of the block. BTW, this past weekend I...

    Engine advice needed

Thank you gents, I appreciate your quick friendly and experienced input. I was just going to try to fire the engine up but I don't trust the oil passage ways to the bearings so I'll probably take it apart, clean it all and check clearances first, at least now I can go ahead. Thank you all again! Bob

    Engine advice needed

Hi everyone, I have a question for the engine gurus here. I found a 1929 engine on Craigslist, it was described as having good compression and no obvious defects, I figured it would be a great rebuildable block to have as a spare for my 1930 tudor that I've had for 27 years now. I got it home...
