Replacing Wood In a '30 Blindback

I did the rear header over the back window the bows and front header. I used North Carolina wood. The rear piece was difficult due to fasteners being covered by sheetmetal. I used small metal plates bent to fit and wood screws to secure the wood the best I could. ⅞

    Tool purchase advice

I am looking for a wheel bearing packer. I bought a metal unit in the $20 range, and it's garbage. Grease squishes everywhere except into the bearing. Any brand preferences out there?

"I was told once that..." stories...

When I was a lad in the 1970's, my dad had a friend that worked at a Ford dealer in Leslie, Michigan. The dealer would send him to Detroit on the train and he would drive back new Model A's (about 60 miles) for display or to fill customer orders. He claimed that some of the engines were so...

    Radiator flow rate

Thank you for all of the answers. The car in question does not run hot, but rather pushes out water at high speeds (50 plus). It really makes a mess on the hood and windshield. The overflow tube is not plugged. New gasket on the cap, but it sneaks past the Quail flip top. I wanted to check if...

    Radiator flow rate

Is there an accepted seconds measure for a radiator to drain it's contents? By this, I mean fill the radiator to the top while holding my hand over the bottom pipe. Remove my hand and count the seconds to a full drain.

Why do you like your car.

I don't mean, because "Your dad had one", or "My grand kids bought it for me". I mean the pure styling aspect of your car. What styling cue drew you to the specific body style you own. Like: you really like the landau bars on a Sport coupe, or the low profile top of a Deluxe Phaeton turns your...

Thanks, Bob C, that looks right.

Roadster pickup panel cab to box

There is a sheet metal panel that goes between the cab and the box to keep the dust down. It is fastened to the frame. Does somebody have a picture as to how this piece is mounted?

    Pin stripe

I have done my own with a Mac "00" brush. Sometimes it looks great, sometimes it looks like Ray Charles painted the line with his foot. A friend of mine who pins stripes on the side for beer money, says the greatest enemy is mental fatigue. I agree. I did one side of a Cabriolet in 20 minutes...

Sound deadening in a roadster door

It does sound counter productive, ronn, but I am after a solid sounding door when it is closed. Without something inside, it sounds like a hollow tin can. I believe the originals had some kind of thick paper / cardboard inside.

Sound deadening in a roadster door

I have a new Brookville door. What do you guys use for a sound deadner? I was thinking of shooting some "Great Stuff" in through the little holes on the inner panel, but am concerned it will expand too much in some places and make trouble with the outer skin. Thoughts?
