won't run right, driving me nuts

I had condenser burn out troubles back 34 years ago when I would be running an exhaust heater so I moved it up on the side of the coil. Have heard it's not good to run one up there but its still running there 34 years later and still the same condenser.

    2 tooth steering sector rebuild

When if ever I can lay my hands on some new parts I need to rebuild one of my 5 model A steering sectors. I have always used bushings like the originals in the sector housing but I am considering going with the needle bearing type. I have heard good and bad about the bearing type. If they fit...

    Steering shaft length

Sometime in the future I want to rebuild my steering sector on one of my cars. I don't know how long the steering shaft is in it and was wondering if there was a way to measure it before I tear it apart. I want to try and have all the right parts on hand before I start rebuild. Been waiting...

    Shifting problem

Sometimes when I shift from first gear to second I can't get the shifter to let me go into second or down to high. I can start over again and it will work fine for the rest of the day but can return any time. The transmission was completely rebuilt with all new gears, bearings, shaves and...

    Tudor seat question

My Tudor front seats are in excellent condition but its like setting on a large ball after a few hours. I found a set of front seats out of a Lincon Centennial and did some adapting on the bottom of the Lincon seats. So now if I want to change them back all I have to do is pull the hinge pins...

    Headlight sockets

I'm probably the only one having trouble with my headlights flickering going down the road. Never had any problems until I replaced my bulbs with new LED's. I like the new LED's real well but I've got a problem with the bulbs fitting lose in the sockets. I've tried to reform the sockets a...

Heat in a model ‘A’ options

Re: Heat in a model ‘A’ options My uncle has a portable kerosene heater standing in the back floor board and tied with baling wire from one window crank to the other. Probably wasn't very safe but it would make you roll down the windows in dead of winter.

    Gas shut off valve options

I've got two of my A's fixed like Y-Block's and the parts to fix the other two. This fix has worked for three years for me and I recommend it till someone makes a valve setup that fits in the bottom of the tank where the original valve is that is ball type.

    Which Year

I use to like the 28 and 29's best but over the years I have changed my mind. I like the 1930 best of all mainly because the gas valve got moved out under the hood on the 1931 models. That made it unhandy to turn off every time you got out to shop or visit or what ever. Don't get me wrong I...

    Pilot bearing recess in flywheel

I wonder if this problem may have occurred from machining the flywheel housing. That would put the transmission closer to the flywheel.

    Brake linings

I know I may get different opinions but its coming time to replace my brake linings. I wonder which is the best way to go on linings, woven or molded? I have woven now and have cast iron drums in front but have new cast iron drums for the back when I redo the brake job. I want the best...

    Rebuiling 2-tooth steering sector

Thinks guys for the opinions, My biggest concern was the use of needle bearings. I wondered how the sector shaft held up with needle bearings. We may be waiting for a long time for sector shaves. Also it seems like the lip seal sets the bearings closer two gather and would cause wear to...

    Rebuiling 2-tooth steering sector

I know this job has been discussed on here before. My sector is getting close to the point of being rebuilt in the near future. I know I will need a new sector shaft and a new steering worm plus all the other parts that go with a rebuild. I guess my biggest question is should I go with a new...

    Jump box

A few years ago I was going to jump an old 48 Ford pickup with a 12 truck. When I started to unhook the jumper cables the 6 volt battery blew up in my face. Lucky I didn't get acid in my eyes. I went to the house about half necked with a few cuts from pieces of the battery and the next day I...
