    Motor Stitching DFW Area

They have 2-3 month waiting list because of their motor rebuilds. We just thought there would be some around that did this type of work when doing other engine work. Model As can't be the only ones that cracks.

    Motor Stitching DFW Area

I mentioned that I was supposed to take it to someone that could do the stitching. I was asking about the re-babbitt and rods. When we got it there, they said they wanted to grind it out and braze it. I have heard too much here on the Ford Barn to go that route. So now, I am asking if anyone...

    Motor Stitching DFW Area

Just got motor back - was supposed to be bored for new .040 pistons, but when magnafluxed, they found small crack in block and head, so didn't bore. The mechanic said it was very small and should be no problem to fix. Anyone know business in DFW area (preferably Fort Worth) that does motor...

    WHAT Are These Tools???

Ok, I looked at the tool with the patent on it and it looks like 1917. Anyhow, nothing I would ever use, so I gave it back. Maybe he can do something with it. Thanks for all your help.

    WHAT Are These Tools???

If these predate the Model A, any idea of how long? Also, what were they used for?

    WHAT Are These Tools???

Thank you for solving our mystery. What was it used for (Model A, T, etc.?). Any idea when it was made or what it's worth? I am thinking this probably isn't something I need. GGG

    WHAT Are These Tools???

Paul, The tool has 15 stamped on the side and the bell piece is threaded on the inside and has 15 stamped on it. The little pieces (5 each size) are stamped 968 and 107. Each of the ring pieces has different sizes (some too faint to really read), but numbers like 2 3/4, 2 5/8, 2 7/8, 2 1/4...

    WHAT Are These Tools???

Just laid out a tape and hope it helps. Looks like about 18 of the rings, (some are different sizes and are thicker on one side than the other), 10 of the small metal pointed pieces (two sizes - 5 ea.), the tool itself has one ring on it and is about 6 in. long and 3 in. across on wide end...

    WHAT Are These Tools???

Sure had a lot of people look at this, but only one guess. Maybe this isn't something I need??? Come on guys - someone out there knows what this is. Found a few numbers stamped on the large tool, but doesn't mean anything to me. Does not say Ford or anything else on it. There's got to be someone...

    WHAT Are These Tools???

A friend found these still in a wooden box in a barn. Are they Model A or Model T block boring tools? Looks like everything is here - no empty sections in the box. We were thinking of buying them just for kicks, but would like to know if they are something people would collect. Any idea what...

Block and Head Crack Repair in FW Area

Haven't gotten a price for stitching and milling. Will be Monday before I can check with them. Haven't had a chance to check the numbers to see if they match the frame and title. Will be Tuesday or Wednesday before I can do that. The car is at our daughter's and the block/head/crank at our...

Block and Head Crack Repair in FW Area

What will the 5.5 head (high compression I assume), do for us? We're trying to learn as we go, so some of this is a little over our heads. The head on it looks like it is an original on the car and doesn't look like it's ever been bored. Are you saying we could just go ahead and bore the block...

Block and Head Crack Repair in FW Area

1928 Tudor - just got bad news from mechanic. He was going to bore the block for new pistons, and found a crack in the exhaust port in the block back towards the cylinder and one in the head from the water jacket hole to the head bolt hole. Anyone know where we can get it repaired around...

Crank ground size vs new insert rod size

Got it fixed. Thank you very much. Also, found a place in Denton, TX (gonna skin us alive for the money), but at least they are experienced with As and they know what they are doing. I think we are going to have the crank ground, head re-bored and cleaned up, then put everything back together...

Crank ground size vs new insert rod size

It must be something I am not allowed to do even though I am registered. I can find nothing under my name on right hand side that says PM or Private Message.
