    Blockley Tires

VAT is only for domestic purchasers (i.e. UK). You won't pay VAT if you purchase them for shipping to the USA. I have bought Blockley tires (tyres!) for my MGB. They are truly excellent. Shipping was fast and cheap. I don't know about their Model A tyres but the company makes excellent products...

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV)

Does your catch can fill up? Do you really need it? I would be a bit surprised if it collected much of anything unless your rings were pretty bad. Catch cans aren't used on factory PCV installations.

Does this head have value for someone beyond scrap?

The head just went to a new proud owner on the forum here at a bargain price!! So much nicer than scrapping it. It runs great. Now for an appropriate clock movement for the ring gear.....

Does this head have value for someone beyond scrap?

It's a big job, I believe probably bigger than an overdrive installation. I only did it because i had to take it apart anyway: I had to replace an axle shaft that had a crack emanating from the keyway. I can't comment on performance yet because I don't have the body back on yet!!

Does this head have value for someone beyond scrap?

I've been using this B Police Head for over a decade. I had the infamous crack 'repaired' with high nickle rod but it didn't hold. However, not sure how important it is to worry about it. There were never any symptoms, and it always ran great. I've replaced it with a Snyder's 6.0 while doing...

Radiator mounting: Stock vs Sears vs Bratton's?

I am now officially in the market for a usable 30-31 cross member. If anyone has a lead on one please PM me. Thanks everyone!

Radiator mounting: Stock vs Sears vs Bratton's?

Wow this is great information. Now I know why I could never get the hood alignment right! I pulled the body off specifically to check for frame sag because of the hood alignment issues, but frame was almost perfectly straight. Time to source a new front cross member!!

Radiator mounting: Stock vs Sears vs Bratton's?

I bought the two-row radiator I've been using in my 30 Tudor from my local Sears in about 1976. (How cool that you could still buy parts at the local Sears parts counter?) Occasional overheating lead me to buy a 3 row from Bratton's a few years ago. I'm just now installing it now while giving...

    Front Leaf Spring

I can't think of how a hydrocarbon oil could interact chemically with steel. I found this thread where a lively discussion among engineers reaches the conclusion that Detroit Eaton's claims about lubricant damaging 5160 steel is likely not grounded in fact: Thread 'Can lubricant actually damage...

    Front Leaf Spring

I just bought a new rear spring from Detroit Eaton Spring. It "looks" fine, still have a lot to do before I put the car on the road. They told me emphatically NOT to lubricate it, that hydrocarbon lubricants will degrade SAE 5160 steel!! I have searched for references to that phenomenon but...

Is this really rear spring wear?

Wonder why Snyder's spring is $100 more than Detroit Eaton's? That's a big difference.

Is this really rear spring wear?

The wear was so uniform that it looked intentional. A new spring it is......!! Thanks for the comments.

Is this really rear spring wear?

Take a look at the indentations in the top of these rear spring leaves......I assume this is wear. Because they are so deep, my inclination is to replace the rear spring rather than disassemble and try to grind these out. I'm interested in your thoughts......

    Is this rear spring sagging?

Got it. It's currently a bare frame so I didn't think the small amount of weight would cause significant spring compression, but I will try completely unloading it.

    Is this rear spring sagging?

55 years after I replaced the rear shackles for the first time, one of them is no longer taking grease. So I decided this was a great time to pull the rear axle and take the opportunity to spruce up the undercarriage. However, the spring spreader doesn't seat well on the rolled spring eyes...
