Oh sorry...I just went to my car and saw that you are right. Situation same as yours, wood is only inside the glass. How to assemble the upper door seal is a good question.

Upper door seals for Murray town sedan

We own a Murrays, too. And our car misses the upper door seals as well. I juts bought them at Snyders and plan to install them next winter time. But up to now, in the last 6 years of ownership I only removed the front door panels due to smaller repairs. The front door wood looks similar to...

    That "Opportunity Knocks" Engine

I am running my engine since more than 10000 mls with a JBwelded crack similar to yours. Important is to really find the ends of the crack; they ofte are nor really good visible. Clean the surface and widen the glue bed to ca. 1/8 or a bit less by grinding the surface with a dremel or so. Then...

    brake adjustment

release completely the actuation rod. If there is too much tension o the rod, this might also press the plates on the drum and does not allow to release the adjustment.

'29 A Town Sedan, over heating

I agree to JacksonIII. Check the timing, then the head nut torque first. The old bolts stretch and need retorqueing. I had the same issue recently after a 35 mls trip with 45-50 mls/h. Suddenly the engine overheated and- strongest indicator for the head gasket- even maximum enriched GAV didn´t...

    GAV Newbie question

Hi folks, does nobody of you use the GAV adjustment for inner engine cooling in high load low RPM situations? I am climbing steep hills that way and it works pretty fine. The overrich mixture is cooling the cylinder walls and prevents overheating of the engine. In these cases I open the valve...

    Temp diff across Radiator

I measured the temperature differences several times to see the influence of ambient temperatures. Adding 10F to ambient seems not to add 10F to coolant but less, even theoretically this should be so. After normal ride @ 45mph back in the box I measure a difference between inlet and outlet of...

    Idle temp

Steaming and spitting are different things. Check in detail what you observed really. Finding the right filling level usually takes place WITHOUT steaming. My level is some mm below baffle, anything above will be thrown out after 20-30 mls, but definitvely not within 1 1/2 mls.

    Odd vibration noise

I got such an annoying metallic rattle noise on our lady as well. No stethoscope, no endoscope, nothing helped, noise came from everywhere. After a wile i found it by chance: We have a 1930 body and the hood can be fixed open with this part: https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/hood-prop-kit...

    Running with out shocks

I have best experience with new shocks from Bill Stipe. They look identical to my originals, which were no more functional and are refillable. The riding improved tremendeously. With springs greased and covered, the car keeps the lane also on rough roads up to high speeds ( 55-60 mph:)). It´s a...

    Engine water leak

I agree to the answers before. My engine had a crack an cyl1 towards the fan at the lower edge of the water area, looking exactly as yours does. I went a different way, but also successully. I drained the coolant and carefully dremeld the crack to a half radius of 1/16, finding a long blowhole...

1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures

Hi Keith, i took the original chrome plated parts and blasted VERY carefully. Apprx. 5s on a certain spot, then the surface turned matt. I am pretty sure not to have injured the closed chrome surface. My chinese automatc watch I put aside not to sandblast it too:rolleyes:. I did the whole...
