Brake drum thickness measurement and with micrometer questions

In the days after 1948 drums were marked max dia. The old ford drums had lot of meat on them. I think back then people would drive till the shoes were medal to medal. The real reason i think is so you don,t pop a wheel cylinder by increasing the travel of piston. If you have a chance to die...

    1940 brake issue....

If you have new shoes there are some shoes that are made wrong. The bottom hole is off location. If you put shoes in drum make sure the lining hits all drum, chamfer ends. Now look and see if any of the shoe is less then 1/4. What I mean is if you wore down the lining the bottom 2" should not...

That 1.5 resister should be ok if it runs with 2 amps with volt meter about 3 volts ok. If you have a good spark out of coil, pull cap wire to grd should snapping sound 1/2" Do this when not running. With new points and condenser should be good for years. If your points are not staying with...

    1940 brake issue....

When bleeding the brakes best get the MC higher then WC jack up front or back as needed. When I do mine I just crack the bleeder just enough to leak out and pump 10 times and when you see puddle on ground quick close bleeder. Keep MC full and do rest same way. Gravity does work that way. Make...

    8BA just died

When testing a coil with OHMS reading that to me is not a good way but quick way. I would check under power when running. You know when leaving the key on some times it burns the coil up. This what I used on my 8Ba in my 39 ford. The coil that fix the stock bracket was a IC 13 Echlin 68 chevy...

    8BA just died

There is nothing wrong and being dumb and happy. Go buy a Chevy 1968 coil and resister and condenser and you will be on the road. Save the muli meter for checking battery's.
