    Magnetic transmission oil drain plug?

I made my own for engine trans and rear end using 1/4” long 1/4” diameter high strength magnets I bought online. Just drill into drain plugs 3/16” deep 1/4” wide and stick them in they will hold themselves no glue needed very difficult to get out. When I change the oils the plugs are always...

    Synthetic Oil for Model A

When I change the oil in the A I usually very slowly pour about a half quart oil in before replacing the drain plug. The fill pipe is in the front of the block the fresh oil slowly cascades through the dipper tray pushing the old oil along with it. Watch the oil drain when it starts to run clean...

Crankshaft in New Rebuilt Model A Engine Won't Turn

I assembled an A engine once using permatex assembly lube on the mains and rods the stuff was so sticky I could not turn the engine over with a 2' breaker bar. Babbitt was new and clearances were correct had two clean the lube out and assemble with light oil then engine turned normally

    oil pressure

There are three dams in the lifter chamber I don't believe oil should ever flow over any of them. They are used to keep oil in the area's of the main bearing tubes when going up or down long steep hills. The oil flow in the chamber is governed by the lifter cover. Look inside the cover and you...

    High volume oil pump.

Using a clear plastic lifter cover drain back tube on a fresh rebuilt engine with fresh stock pump I have discoverd that at higher rpm the pump will drain the pan faster then the oil can return. At low rpm the tube shows nice flow about 1\3 its volume. At higher rpm this flow will start to "...

    Bars leak duration

I used Bars Leak to temporally fix some nasty cracks under the valve seats of a 9n ford tractor in 1986. It has been used hard ever since and not leaked a drop. The answer is Bars Leak will last at least 31yrs ☺

    Babbitt metal

I believe from reading online that the original ford babbitt formula was 86% tin 7% copper 7% antimony. I have the chance to purchase some babbitt bars that are 91% tin 4.5% copper 4.5 antimony, it's trade name is Adament and its made by the Magnolia Metals company. Has anyone ever used this? Is...

    My Fleet Is Growing

Been working the ##& out of a 47 8n for as long as I can remember, can't kill it tough tractor, just dug out from under a 3ft snowfall with it a week ago. I think ford built some pickups in the 40's that used the tractor engine.

    B Camshaft

Hello I have a B cam in excellent condition that I would like to use in my model A engine. I also have new single lock tappets that measure 1.120" at the base. Are these compatible or do I need to find tappets with a larger bace? Thank you

    Distributor housing cracks

I had the same problem recently, my solution was to turn the OD of the cracked area to .710" and down about .250". Next a steel bushing was made ID .709" (light press fit) .750 OD .250 long. The steel bushing was then pressed onto distributor housing and OD turned to match upper point plate...
