    Gasoline smell in my garage - 26 T / 30 A

I had the same issue, a strong gas smell. It turned out gas was dripping from the bottom of the carb. and pooling in a recessed spot directly below it on the engine pan. I simply shut off the gas at the carb when I park the car and no more drips and smell.

A Possible T Purchase and a Rear End Question

I guess "rebuilt" doesn't necessarily mean "rebuilt right" but the current owner has an impeccable reputation for knowing what he's doing (I've never heard of negative feedback regarding him). Perhaps he'll settle the issue. So, what is it with the thrust washers? Were they always Babbit...

A Possible T Purchase and a Rear End Question

Thanks very much for the kind replies thus far! I like the idea of trying to I.D. the washer material with a bore scope inspection, going the least invasive route first, but should it come down to it, I'm game to conduct a complete tear down. Buy the book(s) and follow the instructions just like...

A Possible T Purchase and a Rear End Question

Hi Everyone, I've found a highly original 1913 Touring car that the owner will sell to me if I want it, which is a 99% "yes". The engine and transmission have no more than 100 miles on them after a major Kevin Prus rebuild. It has a new Berg, square tube radiator, a new gas tank and shut-off...

    Seat Material Choices

Rotorwrench, that's encouraging to know. Originality for the historical purist in me, but with some added durability. For now, we'll see how my quest pans out.

    Seat Material Choices

Dodge, I guess it depends on how much original leather remains to work with. I'm glad to read that regular mink oil applications worked for you in softening the hard leather. And with black material, there isn't much worry about discoloring it. Thanks for the input!

    Seat Material Choices

Rotorwrench, very cool about your uncle's bring backs! I respect his service. There are three variations of the T44, everything depending on how far apart the bayonet fixture mounting screws are spaced. I own an all #s matching T94 pistol rig. Anywho, Neetsfoot oil and Pickard's leather dressing...

    Seat Material Choices

Thank you for your insight, rotorwrench. This car won't be a daily driver and shouldn't be beat to heck as it's enjoyed. I was wondering if vinyl coverings detract from an otherwise period-correct car, and that maybe I should "splurge" and be 100% correct, as long as I wouldn't have to stress...

    Seat Material Choices

Hello again, Everyone, I may have the opportunity to purchase a highly original 1913 Touring car. Two major pluses going for it in my book are the engine has only about 100 miles on a professional rebuild by a well-respected, experienced rebuilder and the radiator is new from Brassworks. As of...

    Headlight Reflectors

Hi rotorwrench, Thanks for the reply. So, only the gas lights used glass reflectors. Good to know. I've never worked with Alchemy Mirror Resilvering; five + years ago they gave me a quote of $10 / inch diameter to resilver a signal reflector + shipping, so I bought an Angel Gilding kit and...

    Headlight Reflectors

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering about a few things...From my Internet searches, I've read that Model T headlights used glass reflectors; hopefully, this holds true for both gas, and electric types. Questions: Are these reflectors removable as individual pieces? On which side of the glass is the...

Great save! Now to make many new, happy memories in it. Her uncle would be pleased.

Touring Car Outdoor Year Round Storage Ideas

F-1, thanks for the idea. It could be an educational display. I've been lately looking for indoor storage options, like at a self-storage facility. Many don't seem to offer indoor rooms that are large enough for a car, though, say 10 x 15 or 20. It's all outdoor that size and up. But at least...

Touring Car Outdoor Year Round Storage Ideas

Guys, I appreciate your thoughts. I was playing with the idea of keeping the car under a pipe and canopy cover, and not just sitting out in the open, but that arrangement surely wouldn't be 100% weather and critter-proof. I'm liking the idea of any form of outdoor storage less and less. I've...

Touring Car Outdoor Year Round Storage Ideas

I don't think that would fly. This whole Model T thing is my idea, and I doubt she'd be up to cooperating! LOL. Both my wife and son are spoiled, and I don't blame them When I lived at my parent's house, my car very seldom saw the inside of the garage.
