Werner,
You need to remove the water pump and fan from the engine. Sit down, and place the fan blades on your thighs with the water pump hanging down. Screw on the tool and give it a few sharp whacks while holding the water pump so it doesn't hit the floor when the fan comes off.
I accidentally pinched a new tube while trying to install it. I took it to an old time tire place to get it patched. While the guy was working on it, I mentioned, as a kid I remembered patches being set on fire. He told me the EPA outlawed those.
Dean, I think you are not understanding the original engine was replaced with another engine. That's why there are two sets of numbers on the replacement engine.
A & L is a company in CT known for quality parts. They don't have a website, but their phone number is 860-693-0112 and their e-mail address is anlel@aol.com . They will mail you a catalog.
Joe,
The ground wire needs to go on the light socket. I put a ring on a ground wire, and then ran the adjusting screw for the light socket thru the ring behind the socket. Then ran the wire thru the conduit to a ground.
I've been thinking about this, and I now think it is wrong. I think the reason for the indexing is so the camshaft is in the correct position, in relation to the timing dimple. It's been awhile since I changed one.
If you're talking about the rectangular cam nut, the vendors sell a tool that fits it. Otherwise, the vendors sell a modern nut that can be tightened with a large socket.
I believe the cam gear is indexed so it can't be mounted backwards.
