It may be the exact opposite, expavr. Could be used to keep the engine from over heating when the fire engine is stationary for long periods pumping at a fire. This is common on modern fire equipment too. You can pump cool water from the fire pump through the heat exchanger to cool the power...
Back in the early '70s my neighbor had a '61 two door but not a Starliner. He had raced it in New York. He moved to Calif. and got married. Took the 406 out of it and replaced it with a 352 but kept the 4 speed . His wife would drive it everywhere, her DD. In the late '80s he offered it to me...
Heck, I'm in the same boat with my '41. The rear fenders have just about the life beat out of them but I can't afford that kind of coin for replacement steel fenders yet. I'm going to use glass fenders for now. The money I save now can be used for other things to get it on the road. I feel your...
Thanks. The car actually belongs to the wife. The plane is a Stearman built around '41 or '42 if I remember correctly. We also have a '41 pickup and a '54 Club Coupe.
Haven't put the top on yet as it needs new body mounts.
Just a thought, how well do the door gaps fit the body? Are the body mounts in good shape or do they need replaced. I need a new top on our '47 convertible but the body mounts need replaced and the doors adjusted. I can't adjust the top irons until then. Good luck with your convert.
You should ask my wife that question. I've never heard such profanity come out of a woman's mouth after she caught her head on the corner of our 47' convertible. Twice!
Also know of a guy who put a '61 Unibody on a Merc Marauder chassis. It fit pretty well but had problems with the front end being too wide. He had interference problems with the wheel wells. Had to do some fab work for clearance. The engine didn't sit close to the firewall either. I though it...
I did this to a 62 F-100 Unibody. I put a 4.6 and 4R70W OD. It fits in there very well. Plenty of room. The truck had a Fatman Mustang front suspension. I did have to change the oil pan and pick up tube. (A rear sump pan is needed) Also used Sanderson headers. If you do this you may have to fab...
Well, when I registered my '47 Super Deluxe Conv. ; it had yellow on black plates from 1963. Had to jump through some hoops but had the documentation that the plates had been on the car since the early '60's. They are still on the car.
