Hello. My dad owns a 1953 Mercury. The car has a Dual Point Distributor. Could a single point Distributor be used in place of it and What is the difference ? Also, can this distributor be sent out and rebuilt - is there a good company that could do that ? I am near Philadelphia, PA.

Hello. My dad bought a 1953 Mercury Yesterday. It is a 3 speed with over drive. He forgets how to engage or disengage the overdrive? He said he feels no back pressure while shifting and it may be stuck in over drive.
