Heater blower motor control switch removal tool.

The bezel on my 50 for the blower motor control switch appears to need a special tool to unscrew it. Has two holes 180 degrees apart. The knob and shaft can be removed for access. Any suggestions?

    Lifter won't stay in adjustment.

Many thanks to all of you guys that responded to my post. I will keep all of you posted on my progress and what method I end up using. I wasn't aware there was a Green Loctite also. Probably be one or two days before I tackle it again. Still cold here in Michigan.

    Lifter won't stay in adjustment.

8-CM Merc engine. 296 C.I. 3-3/8 X 4-1/16. Potvin Cam and lifters. Lifter on #2 won't hold it's valve lash. I'm thinking of two options. #1 back the lifter adjusting bolt out as much possible and distress the threads with a small chisel or punch. #2 Use Red or Blue thread sealer on on the...

    Assembling a starter

Hey Guys. When reassembling a starter or generator, what's the best way to hold the four brushes back so the armature can be installed in the base plate?

    New starter

Well it happened again. Third time so spent three hours trying to get starter out. Going to put the old style starter drive on the shaft but cannot figure out how to removed the new style drive from the shaft. No bolts and if I do get it off will I find bolt holes in the shaft under the new...

    New starter

I installed one with the new style Bendix on my 50. Had to do the grinding thing on the block to get it to fit. I used a Dremel with a grinding disc. You don't have to grind a lot but it takes patience and trial and error. PITA in my opinion. Anyway I got it in (tight fit) and seemed to work OK...

    Lifter Problem

Thanks to all who replied. I just got this engine back in the car with everything hooked up and upon starting it up had a lot of lifter noise. Only sounds like one. I will try one or more of the suggested remedys. Only removing the intake will save a ton of time which at age 86 is important...

    Lifter Problem

I have one (1) lifter that won't hold it's setting. Can this be fixed without having t0 remove the head? If so, all suggestions will be welcome.

    Triple Carb Intake gasket.

Thanks Paul. I didn't realize there was a difference. I ordered a complete 49 to 53 gasket set for my rebuild and all went well except for the intake gasket. I'll cut a hole in it and that will solve my problem.

    Triple Carb Intake gasket.

50 Ford flathead with Offenhouser triple carb intake manifold. Is there a special intake gasket for this? The front of the intake has two holes One for oil fill and the other, I assume, is for a road draft tube. My problem is there is no cutout in the gasket to match the hole and that makes the...
