    spark knock under load

On thehamb someone suggested to try adjusting the vacuum brake by turning in ash bolt 1/2 turn at a time. Thinking of trying that first as idles good. Can’t test drive till ties though.

    spark knock under load

No. Never timed with a light. No mark for TDC. Thought I had read somewhere to not hook up the vacuum brake but I cannot find that again, so wondering if those with the pertronix hook up vacuum to it or not? I will try to rotate distributor up a mark or two and see what happens.

    spark knock under load

Crab distributor with pertronix and correct coil. Vacuum brake hooked up to manifold vacuum. Edelbrock slingshot intake with dual 97's. Edelbrock heads... 6 volt pos ground/ Runs good, maybe a bit rich but knocks under load/hard acceleration. New to all this. What should I be looking for or try?

    Stromberg 97 carb questions

Yes the gauge is liquid filled but there is a small vent hole in rubber plug to vent it. I had also removed the plug while this was happening. I was thinking the needle and seat may have stuck open thus flooding the engine. (too much gas)

    Stromberg 97 carb questions

I am running dual 97's on an Edelbrock slingshot intake. Manual fuel pump with backup electric pump (only used if necessary) and pressure regulator set to 2.5 lbs and pressure gauge. New 6 volt pos ground pertronix crab distributor. This is a new setup with good used engine. Redone carbs (prev...

    Mechanical fuel pump

Solved. Friend or should I say "friend" had moved my parts around and switched the fuel pump pushrods so I ended up with the wrong one in the engine. Go figure.

    Mechanical fuel pump

Mechanical pump is not pumping fuel. It is basically new. I also have electric airtex 6 volt pump that was used only when vehicle not used for awhile. It all worked fine on original engine. Swapped eng to a 59A with an Edlebrock intake. Had put the push rod for aluminum intake in and rotated...

No fuel pressure at normal engine temp

Both pumps were on car previously before engine swap. The glass filter bowl remains full I will try to take fuel line off and crank it with elect pump off and see what I get in a few days when I get off work.

No fuel pressure at normal engine temp

I have same issue. No fuel gauge as of now. Replaced engine and added dual carb set up. Reused mech fuel pump that worked fine with old worn out engine with single carb. Now the engine runs good with both mech and elect pump but after elect pump is shut off it will die in a short amount of time...

    temp guages sending units...

Thanks, that part # may help. I have not had much luck finding it without part #.

    temp guages sending units...

So I have a '37. Replacing engine with a '46 with Edelbrock heads. The car is still 6 volt. I do not believe the sending unit from 37 fits in the Edelbrock heads. The Edlebrock heads have the 1 and 2 wire sending units which I believe are a pipe thread? (Different than the thread on '37 heads?)...

    Flathead filter

I am so thankful I found this thread as the engine I have acquired and am about to install has this mod. I was considering just plugging the ports (not knowing anything about that grub screw and the damage that would have occurred) You guys are great and this site if very helpful.
