We considered DOT 5 for a '66 Mustang, but decided to stick with DOT 3. The manufacturer of the disk brake recommended we didn't use DOT 5, but didn't give much reasoning. Might not hurt to check with the wheel cylinder and master cylinder vendors before switching in the future. My...
Ah that makes sense, looks like a slick setup once complete though! I will discuss with my father and let you know if we need one in the future. Thanks again for all the help!
That looks great! This seems like a good way to go if we don't like regular driving with the DL. Like you said, we can always swap it for car shows. Thank you for the information!
That is very clever! Never seen that before but it makes sense. One of those adapters, the two-barrel carb, and later air cleaner isn't too tall for the engine bay is it? Seems like a solid option if the drivability with the DL is noticeably worse than the current setup.
Ah I see, that makes sense. Good to know! We're planning to adjust the valves and go through the distributor when we swap the intake. Even with the current setup, there is a bit of a misfire on acceleration that makes it seem like one side isn't firing right (also noticeable wear on the boots...
Good point, seems like each carburetor has it's own quirks. Figured I'd consult the experts before tearing into it! I have two core carbs and one on the way with the intake I found. So it'll be a fun learning experience to build one.
The car is my father's. He drives it quite a bit, but we...
My father and I are planning to rebuild a Detroit Lubricator carburetor for his 1932 Ford Sedan. His car currently has a 1936-ish block, heads, and intake. I had found a 1933 intake on Facebook, but later discovered the generator mount is unique to a 1932. Now I've located a 1932 Ford intake...
