Can i heat rear and make repair

Heat it and bend it back down. It may sound crude, but a hammer will give better results than a clamp because of the shape of the housing and the fact a clamp will not be as effective in forcing the casting just a little past it's original position so it can spring back a little. It is cast...

    Cone Clutches/Old cars in general

If your Chevrolet clutch is just a bit grabby, that's about as smooth as it is going to get. Cone clutches engage abruptly by their very nature. Neetsfoot oil is good for leather, don't know about cork. Be sure your engine is not idling too fast. Blocking the clutch open while parked long term...

    Murrieta Hill Climb

We were there, had a great time. The FAST guys put on a great event. There was one other T powered car there besides mine. It was a real neat racer with Culbert overhead, sounded real good. Had more power than the clincher tires could put to the pavement. We ran our Gemsa T powered racer...

How does one pour rear main bearing caps?

You don't have to peen the fourth main bearing because the shell is steel and can be tinned, and thus the bearing bonded to the cap, same as the rods and caps, if it is done right. Only the iron blocks are peened.

    Replacable babbitt bearing inserts?

The four cylinder Chevies were not "insert" engines as we think of them today. They used bearing shells that were babbited and then set in the block and line bored. You did not just take the old ones out and install new ones. I don't think the first real insert replaceable bearings came out...

    1913 Model T Engine Block

The real value is in the block casting. You don't want to use an early crank and rods. Depending on condition, I have sold 1914 blocks between $100-500

    TT truck,what were rearend ratios?

The Ruckstell is an underdrive. It gives you an intermediate gear between Ford low and high. When it is in high gear the T operates the same as if the Ruckstell were not there. Erik

    TT truck,what were rearend ratios?

You can remove the four bolt cover on the back end of the housing, remove the big nut, thrust bearing, and the rear roller bearing. Then you can peek in with a pen light and count the teeth on the worm gear. Four teeth is low speed, about 7.5:1. Six teeth is high speed, about 5.25:1. A TT with...

    Thinking of selling

It's an early 26, appears to have no headlight tie bar. If I were to tell you it was worth $2000, that is because that is what I would like to buy it for. In fact, if you were next door, I'd be on my way with cash. There are hot rod guys that would pay that just for the body. Hopefully, we can...

    oilpan aligning jig

I made all the parts for mine, copying ones from our friend Pete Rich. I can send pics. Simple machine work, all referenced off the surface of the jig and the dowel pins. Email for info. Regards, Erik. bcanumber99@yahoo.com

    Oil pan engine mounts

I have a pan jig and would still not tear a T engine down just for a bent pan ear. Use heat and bend it until it fits. They get bent in when the engine is kicked around while out of the car. If at some point the engine has to come out for other reasons, by all means have the pan straightened on...

    Pickup box value

1925 bed, one year only, pretty rare. $300-500 is about right for someone building a 1925 roadster pickup. Erik

    1923 roadester eng noise

The low compression ratio of a model T does not usually make spark knock or "pinging" likely, but if retarding the spark slightly makes your car happy, by all means do so. Driving a T means the timing is always your job. In a modern car the timing is retarded automatically under heavy load or...

    27 Wire wheel bolt pattern

I don't know the distance between the studs but I believe the 26-27 T wheels are 5 lugs on a 4.5" bolt circle and the A is 5 on 5.5". Erik
