6v to 12v step up converter

Thank you all for your input, hoping to see more. So if I run the converter input wires directly from the battery post, I should be okay and not have to worry about using the car body as a ground? Thanks, Jim

6v to 12v step up converter

I have a 1953 Mercury still 6 volt positive and would like to add a 6 to 12 volt step up converter for cell phone use. Do I wire the converter to the positive ground, as the rest of the car is, or something different? Thanks, Jim

    Overdrive relay question

1953 Mercury 6 volt +. I'm replacing all the old cloth wiring for the overdrive and while I'm at it I'm thinking of replacing the relay. I have the smaller relay that is on the firewall but also have a larger one that I've had for many years and can't remember if the larger one is 6 or 12 Volts...

    Another overdrive problem

No, no guarantee but owner states disassembled, inspected, reassembled with new gaskets and in excellent condition, minus the governor, solenoid, and linkage arms. Thank you for the reply. Jim

    Another overdrive problem

A question. Is there a difference between a 1953 Ford and a 1953 Mercury 3 speed with overdrive transmission? I would think not, but I just want to check. Thanks, Jim

    Another overdrive problem

Well, as you say, I think the horses have escaped and it's too late now to close the gate. It's my fault for not checking oil levels. The car is new to me, and I just didn't get that far in the checkout. So now in search of a rebuilt unit, unless I can find someone in the Oklahoma City area to...

    Another overdrive problem

Thanks for the reply. I'll take it for a short hop tomorrow afternoon after checking the fluid, as I'm not sure if it did or not.

    Another overdrive problem

This same thing just happened to me on Saturday. Driving along at highway speed (53 Mercury), when I heard a short screech from the transmission area, but everything remained working as it should. There was no further noise, and driving was not affected. But after coming to a stop noticed that...

Good information. This is an OReilly's Battery less than a year old. I do have a hydrometer that I will take with me. Thanks rockfla!

What did I do and how do I fix it? 1953 Mercury

OK, put a better charger on for a couple of minutes, headlights came on. I disconnected charger and headlights dimmed then out so I think I'm on to something. Will pick a new battery today. I don't understand how connecting that wire that has been there for years would cause the battery to short...
