Not sure on the crank seal I THINK you need to trim it to a tad longer and tuck the ends in, some one will chime in on that. The cork gasket all I do is put some wheel brg grease on the block to hold the gasket up until I get the pan in place. I may be handy to cut the heads of a couple of 1/4...

I believe there is a tool specific to that job. Synders has it. A few bucks to save hours of time. Win win for all.

I do all the above except the masking. Too lazy to mask. Dip a finger in some wheel brg grease, put a thin coat of grease where you do not want paint. Grease will wipe off with excess paint. Have fun

One can also weigh on a mailing scale. If over spec's float is leaking and sinking. I have also reused the orig needle and seat which in my case is steel.

Just a question........would the oil eventually eat away at the plastic insert?
