The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

I will have FSG merchandise sometime this year. I made one of a kind shirts I gave (for free) to fellow 'roadies' who help out on Route 66 as a sign of my appreciation for them. I never sell those shirts and they are running out. I am releasing a new version of the shirt which I will sell on my...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

Yes, if I fly into KC instead of Tulsa, we shoot down and pass thru Pittsburg to Galena. I would recommend LIKING my FSG FB page https://www.facebook.com/frontstreetgarage/ as I always post when I plan on being at the garage. Or you can always email me at info@route66world.com to let me know...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

Update to the work on the garage. I had a VERY talented lady colorize the original May 1947 photo and include ALL the exact colors on the items on and in the building. I would say this is about 95% accurate. If you see something I might be missing, PLEASE feel free to chime in. As I am...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

You are a man after my own heart with all those Model A's!! AND you and I probably will end up sharing the same padded cell after everything is said and done with our buildings. Your's seems to be more modern (by a half a century or so) compared to mine and I have so much work ahead of me it is...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

I have spent an hour or two on the site and almost all are personal home garages - although I did see one 'commercial' type garage being redone to a workshop. I will keep looking as I have time.

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

I have been to the site before and quickly browsed thru it but it seems to focus more on personal garages than actual garages - I will spend a little more time this weekend on it. Thanks!

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

Actually - every penny is coming from my pocket (for now). I will most likely create Front Street Garage merchandise to help fund the restoration - I have Tshirts now that I DO NOT sell as I give them to folks on the route (or roadies as we call each other) who do things to help the route grow...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

Update: It has been 2 years since I have purchased the building and a lot of progress has happened. I will be there in 2 weeks to do some more work on it but I am focusing on the facade and most of it is structural - so you will not see any of the work... yet! The original photo was taken in...

The Front Street Garage, Route 66 in Galena, Kansas During the Model A Era Model A

Update - we have a contract being written up as we speak to complete the purchase of this building, so you are now talking to the new owner! We have narrowed this pic to one of three years due to the sign bill of the circus. 1930, 1941 or 1947. I am shooting at 1941 but it also could be 1947...
