1940 Ford Standard, 2 door for sale. Due to recent health issues, I am forced to offer this beautiful car for $24K. I've owned it for just over two years and have won several First in Class awards. This vehicle was restored in 2006/7 and is as nice as it looks. Has less than 3K miles since...

Does your clutch release properly? One test method.

Excuse me for butting-in, but I have to tell you... A good friend of mine, when I first bought my 40' suggested using the 2'nd to first method. I've done so every time and never had a gear clash problem.

Transmission cover on 40 Ford Standard

Kube, Thank you for the photo. That'll help me put mine right. It's kind of tough locating this type of correct information, but, thanks to people like you it's still possible. Hope you're weathering this winter okay, and, thanks again for your help.-Dick

Transmission cover on 40 Ford Standard

Thx for your input, Kube. If it isn't too much to ask, would you post the photo of what I would require? I have ample supplies in my garage. I just don't know what to use as originally specified. I'd really appreciate it.

Transmission cover on 40 Ford Standard

I'm replacing the transmission cover on my 40 Ford Standard and would like to know what the correct fasteners are. I'm sure the original fasteners have been replaced. I don't think the correct setup is with the existing hexhead bolts and nuts. Does anyone know if I should be using panhead or...

How have you kept your engine warm at night outside?

If you use a lighter weight oil, it should help considerably. Years ago I had a Chrysler K car with a 2.2 liter engine. With 20w-50 oil it would turn over but not start (fuel injected). I replaced it with 10w-40 and never had another problem starting in cold weather.

    Almost a disaster, a reminder,...and a question

You should assume the reservoir was filled at one point. That being said, where did the fluid go. It didn't evaporate, that's for sure.

    My Biggest Fear

I'll be more than happy to give someone "face value" for their old coins anyday. You've heard of "buyer beware"? Then it should also be "seller beware"' don't you think. All kidding aside, It takes a low person to not do the right thing.

What you all have to do when you lose something is, throw the rest of what you have away. Guaranteed, the lost item will show up very shortly.

    '39-'41 non-corrosive trans lube availability?

Yikes. I almost blew it! Last fall I drained my ****** and refilled it with 85W-140 gear lube. I thought it would be better as it was more viscous than the 90 W that was in it previously. The new oil worked well after it was warmed enough, but, wanted to grind when cold. Well, after reading the...

    Upper air deflector installation

Thanks 19Fordy. I did as you suggested and it worked wonders keeping my car cool. That's why I plan on installing the permanent deflector.

    Upper air deflector installation

Sorry I'm so slow with this reply, however I thought I'd add this quick postscript: My problem turned out to be the cross bar support, that runs in front of the upper radiator, has a slight arc to it. It must have been bent to bring in the fenders somewhat and for some reason. I'm going to try...
