The picture is what my drive gear looks like. the gear came loose from the shaft on mine. I'm not sure what size to order. Standard, .004 over, or .010 over sized. How do I determine what size of gear to order?
When I hold the drive gear in one hand and turn the top slotted end, the shaft turns but the gear doesn't. I think it has a broken pin on the gear or new shaft . The pin I am talking iabout is on the top of the lower gear assembly It is a sleave that covers the two shaft joints.
I am having trouble with my distributor not turning with hand cranking the engine. I think the distributor gear that is being driven by the cam gear and that is not meshing. I can turn the distributor shaft by rotating the rotor and see the shaft turn, but if I hand rank engine the distributor...
Does anyone know how I can check and if needed adjust the valves on my Model A with the engine in the car and the heads attached. Everywhere I look the information shows the head off, so valves and pistons exposed so you know what the position of the valves.
Thanks to all of your input! I retested by turning the engine over with the starter and shaft rotates normally. I ordered a new distributor from Snyder along with a couple of gaskets. I'm not sure what is going on with the shaft not turning besides the distributor shaft is frozen. With it being...
I got the cover plate off and looked at oil pump gears and the tang looks good. I put the shaft back in and the gear moves with cranking of the engine. It didn't do this prior to reseating the shaft. The distributor shaft still will not move with distributor out. So, I'll get a new distributor...
I got the distributor out by the tap and pry method. (i just needed a bigger hammer). The shaft is corroded so bad the shaft will not turn. The shaft has a slot at the end that is in good condition. The tang that fits into this slot to drive the distributor I'm not sure what or even if it is...
I am using the pry and tap method to get the distributor loose. Is this a good way to get it loose? Will the shaft and tang come out together or am I in for major machine work?
I have a 1928 Model A that the engine cranks normally, but the rotor in the distributor is not moving, so engine will not start. If I remove the distributor cap and try and turn the rotor, it will not move. I am in the process of trying to remove the distributor, but it is stuck! Does anyone...
I have an issue with the rotor not turning while engine is cranking by starter. I cannot turn the rotor by hand either. Any ideas? I am trying to remove the distrib. now but it is hard to remove. thanks!!
