Terry,
Yes, I lifted the lock bolt and the handle turns easily for a ways then gets stiffer but does not release the trunk latch. I'm guessing the square is worn and is slipping. I tried pushing the lid down while turning the handle, also tried pulling on the handle outward while turning but...
The lock cylinder is out, lifting the cylinder released, the handle turns part way then gets harder to turn and does not release. I suspect the square is worn and slipping. Wishful thinking here, there is a hole on the right side of the handle body that is attached to the trunk lid. I can't...
I have been searching to find the stock or common axle ratio for a 1939 Mercury with little success. The one I have is 410 but would rather 378 if it was available and if I can find one. I could change to the normal short pinion and modify the driveshaft to use a coupling but that is a daunting...
I got a response. Can anyone supply the part number for the quarter armrest card for a 1934 fordor? It looks like I may be able to get a print from the Benson Research Center if I can come up with the part number. I have the '33 '34 restoration manual but it doesn't give part numbers. Thanks
Leadfoot,
I have enough of the original to see that the Victoria and Fordor are different but some of the contours may helpful. Thank you. Also, I wasn't aware of the Benson Library, will try to learn how to contact it.
Needing a pattern for rear seat arm rest cards. I have some of the original but not enough to accurately make a new one. It appears there is a piece of canvas that bridges the gap between the card and the wood in the body. If anyone has a pattern or any helpful information it would be greatly...
I have it all apart and am in the process of cleaning things up and removing all tacks. There is some sort of sealer that was applied over the tack strip that covers the crack between the tack strip metal and the roof edge. Can anyone suggest what works as a sealer? Thanks
To all who have replied, a very big thank you. The answers you have given and the pictures are what I needed to understand how it is put together.
Karl, I searched for hours on the internet and found little information. The very best is right here in this thread.
Can anyone explain how a 1934 sedan roof is assembled. Can I safely pry up the upper metal strip? What holds it in position? There is a fibrous material in the center of it, what is its purpose? I want to replace the roof material as it was originally done but need more information to know...
