Running ford king seeley gauges on 12 v

I have been doing the gauge thing for more years than I care to remember. All Ford factory gouges, and I mean ALL, except for charge/battery condition gauges are 6 volt until 1986. I worked most of my life if Ford dealers. Not to mention my passion for old Fords that started in ernest when I...

'40 Front Brake Hose Part #

Ford went to a replacement number sometime in 70s. The number used w as A8TZ 2079 A. I have not run that number in a long time, but any Ford parts guy could run it and find out.

    37 gauge polarity

If the Ford "chopper" CVRs are so bad, how did we get along so well with them 28 years (57 to 85)? I worked for Ford dealers many of those years and rarely if ever did we have a problem with gauge function or accuracy complaints. Ford made a very good gauge tester that would test wiring, CVR...

    37 gauge polarity

I have been converting 6v Ford gauges to 12v systems for many years and have always used the Ford CVR without problems. Other that 1956, Ford used 6v gauges in all applications until 1986 when they went to a 12v magnetic gauge system and and us Ford dealer mechanics were kept busy fixing the new...

    Schneider cam

You could do the simple thing and call Jerry Cantrell at Schneider Cams. He can tell you in short order what spring is best and what are good alternatives. The number is (619) 297-0227 . I've been using Jerry's cams exclusively for over 40 years, in all types of engines (especially...

    Supercharger idea.. Thoughts?

I would do like sofaking said and build a pressure box to mount the carb inside of. As for the intake, run a tube like you have, but run it through the fender well and use a shielded K&n conical filter to get air that's not preheated from the radiator. So much for my 20 cents worth.

    Increase positive castor

Changing caster only can be tricky. You can't just remove a shim tom the rear or add a shim in the front. Doing so will change both camber and caster. If say you remove a 1/8th shim from the rear then a 1/8th shim must be added to the front. That will cause caster to increase and...

    Low-pressure brake light switch

I also went to the Harley brake light switch a few years ago and have had no problems since. A little spendy but considering a one time purchase, well worth it .

I'm so tired- but so so happy

Back in the dark ages right after electricity and indoor plumbing, we were trying to remove the rear hubs on my '46 tudor. An old retired Ford mechanic sat on his porch across the street from our scene. Finally, he strolled over and offered his advice. We had the wheel off and the puller...

    Harbor freight vs eastwood mig

I bought a Lincoln 15 sp 110 mig on the recommendation of the welding Instructor at the prison where I taught auto mechanics until my retirement a few years ago. He told me he had 6 of those units operating 6 hours a day 5 days a week by inmates. He said that they couldn't break...

    King-Seeley gas guage guts

A few o/p and temp setups but no fuel. Mostly used newer gauge guts with original senders per owner requests.

    Question for carb experts

You should be able to use a pump body and arm, return spring, do and arm, and elastomer valve from a later 4100 or 2100 2bbl. Without any problem. Just make sure all the parts come from the same donor carb.

    King-Seeley gas guage guts

Ford used 6V King Seeley gauges until 1986 when they went to magnetic gauges and we were inundated with gauge problems for quite a while after that. The IVR kept the voltage to the gauge at a pulsed 6V. I have replaced lots of early gauges with the later ones by changing the needle and...

Anyone Remember Ford Parts Obsolete Inc.

Not the same people at all. Joe carried some Argentine parts like hole filler grilles, but most of the stuff was nos or nor and always good prices and friendly staff.
