39 Ford Temperature Gauge not working

First you should check the gauge by shorting out the sender wire. With the ignition on the gauge should go full scale to "cold". If this happens then your problem is the sender(s). New ones are available thru Mac's.

    tranmission oil

I think the second gear sychro brass blocker ring is probably worn and changing the transmission oil to something lighter might make things worse.

Adjustable lifters keep backing off - what do u do?

Using '52-'53 Ford/Merc rotator valve set may help. The rotator allow the valve stem to spin with the tappet reducing the twisting torque on the adjustment screws. I have this set up on a Zephyr engine and so far it seems to be effective. I also used loctite after adjustment.

    Carb. Gas Leak

Power valve check: with the valve in place and the bowl plugs in fill the bowl about half way with gas. Look for drips of gas from the valve. Any moisture of gas indicates a leaking gasket or leaking diaphragm.

The Lincoln has a narrower tread and a different spring hanger so this would require shorting the Columbia housing and rewelding the Lincoln out end to the housing. The...
