Which way are the front brake flat spring type anti-rattlers supposed to point in s brake off mode? Does the open end of the cup face fornt or back?

I have a 1928 leatherback sedan (restored in 1969). I want to replace my waterpump with a leakless one, have a 2 blade fan & radiatord shroud & locking radiator cap. Questions: - the radiator locking cap was custom built. I cannot see how it "locks" onto the radiator threaded neck. Looks like...
