    Marvel mystery oil....

In an NTSB post aircraft accident investigation published in 2003, it was reported that Marvel Mystery Oil was composed of 74 percent mineral oil, 25 percent stoddard solvent, and 1 percent lard. In case you guys think this is a negative post. I use it in my flathead.

    amp clamp for generator output

Can I use a modern digital amp to read amp output of my generator? Will it bounce all over like a digital volt meter does on my 40 6 volt? I will buy a new amp clamp meter if it will work. Thanks Dave

    Speedometer cable frozen

Thanks again for the answers. I worked on the Waltham speedo lubed and calibrated. It was only showing 8 tenths when it should be a mile.. As soon as new cable comes in verification will be possible. Wasted $30 on universal to find out the crimp on end was not compatible with Waltham female...

    1940 Fuel tank leak

I have pulled it out and got it working. Even calibrated using 38 coupe (thanks) method and found that it was only showing 8 tenths of a mile in 1 minute. There is a lever on the clock spring that changes spring preload. This was not difficult to do. Can not see how they want $400-600 at Bob's...

    1940 Fuel tank leak

Gas leak was at sender gasket. Someone put screws that were too long in a couple of holes. Screw heads rounded out. Replaced all screws (SS 1032 1/2" long) and sealed gasket with Permatex. Sender is a KS sender and still works. No more leaks now. Still working on the speedometer and waiting for...

    Speedometer cable frozen

I have 6.00 x16 Pie Crust Firestone tire, 3.78 rear gears verified by counting teeth on ring gear and stamped 9-34, turtle says 19 on it. Afraid there is no selecting gears to fix this. I was going out to check odometer accuracy when the cable decided to act up. Bobs quoted me $400-600 for...

    Speedometer cable frozen

Good to know thanks. I took entire cable out of car and removing the old drive cable was very difficult. Do you think this impending failure might have something to do with the speed being 15MPH off. Speedometer was steady and had very little needle movement with no indication of problem.
