    Gear Oil

Hi Barners, I've been wanting to try some SAE 250w oil in my A rear-end/transmission/steering box for a while now but sourcing it around here seems to be challenging. I went to my local NAPA assuming they would not have it on the shelf but maybe could order me some. When I asked about it he...

    New Brakes

History:. Oh no I had to back those suckers all the way out to get the old steel drums off. When I installed the driver side cast iron and new shoes shoes i can hear just a couple of high spots on the pads scuffing the inside of the drum without tightening that adjustment anymore so I took...

    New Brakes

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I did purchase new operating pins to go through the king pins. I had not messed with the adjuster as it was not necessary on the drivers side. I'll try the adjuster to see if that makes the needed change.

    New Brakes

Hi All, I received my new cast iron drums and brake shoes from Randy Gross... Top notch! I'm putting them on my '30 CCPU. The front drivers side went on well enough. Working on the passanger side now. I got the shoes on and adjusted my brake rod to get the 15 degree forward lean on the...

    Radiator suggestions

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think he is going to get a second opinion on getting his re-cored. He had looked at Brassworks and they are citing a 15-24 week lead time right now. By then we will be settling back into winter here so I think he plans to exhaust the recording option first. He...

    Radiator suggestions

Hi All, My Father had his 29 roadster pickup radiator to a local old timer Model A guy hoping to have the chronic leak repaired. The guy told him that it is a honeycomb style radiator not tubes. After testing the radiatior, Dad was told that it would cost more for him to re-core it than for...

    Generator wiring

I had a bad pulley bearing in my generator and while apart found the field coils looking terrible and decided to replace a few parts. New parts arrived today. The one wire off the field coils has the connector for attaching to the brush. The other end is a pigtail with no connector. I cant...

    Newbie with a question

Thanks Bill, the gas cap and radiator cap do match, but they are both threaded, not twist style. It seems mine is a compilation of remaining 29 and incoming 30 pieces based its very early 1930 birthdate.

    Newbie with a question

Thanks! I've been taking it on regular short drives to get to know it better and start compiling a list of things to do to it while its parked for the winter. One of which will be taking the steering box off and apart to asess if it needs to be rebuilt. Someone previously put a grease zerk...

    Newbie with a question

Thanks all. Ill have to arrange an exchange for the 28/29 cap! This thing had not been run for 6 years. 45 minutes of cleaning the distributor. Setting points and timing plus new fuel and a battery and she woke right up. These certainly are fun to wrench on.

    Newbie with a question

So my understanding is that this pickup was started in 1929 but rolled off the line early in 1930 which may explain. Quick and dirty photo attached

    Newbie with a question

Howdy, I've recently taken ownership of a 1930 Model A closed cab pickup. My question is in regards to radiator caps. I ordered the 1930-31 replacement radiator cap through Brattons which arrived today. To my confusion it utililizes a quarter turn to secure the cap where my radiator neck is...
